Good evening,

 

First, thank you again for volunteering for the 2015 edition of the Passaic
County Fair.

A lot of time has gone into discussing what has gone right and what has gone
wrong over the past years' events, and this year will be the culmination of
all of that thought and deliberation.

That being said, one of the changes/additions being made for this year is
volunteer T-shirts.

 

Therefore, I need all of you to reply to me with your preferred Adult
T-Shirt size.  You will be receiving a shirt upon checking in at the Command
Post.

 

More information on these particulars will follow, so please keep an eye out
for further emails from me in the next few days.

 

ALSO, If you have not given me SPECIFIC information as to the date(s) and
time(s) you can volunteer, I need that information in your reply email as
well.

 

This is because volunteers will be receiving a PARKING PASS which will allow
you to access the permit-only entry gate into the Reserve, and will allow
you to park in the area designated for volunteers near the Command Post.
The alternative is using the public-access gate, paying the $ 5 parking fee
and walking or taking a shuttle bus to the fairground.  Parking Passes will
only be valid on the day(s) you indicate you are volunteering.  Therefore,
this is critical information.  If your schedule changes and you need to
change your days/times, I need that information as well.

 

Again, thank you for volunteering and I look forward to hearing back from
you, and working with all of you during the Fair!

Our next scheduled meeting is Wednesday August 19th.? HOWEVER that night we have our outdoor movie night here at the AYRC for summer camp families.? Close to 300 campers and families will be here from 6:30 -9:30pm.? Parking will be a DISASTER!!? ??After discussion with Fr. Gene we will be MOVING our meeting to TUESDAY August 18th .. same time at 7:30pm in the St. Ann Room.? I hope with this advance notice you can make it.

Diana,
Do we have an agenda and draft schedule to review and compare to our calendars before the meeting?  Also, could you send me the Troop email list that you are using so that I can update troop139 at mailman.qth.net<mailto:troop139 at mailman.qth.net> email reflector?  I updated the Troop 139 email list earlier in the summer, but don?t know of your changes.  We should be using the reflector.  You, Mr. Argueta, Mr. Gungil and Mrs. Daly are all administrators of the email reflector, but I am the one who seems to be keeping it up to date.

Also, a couple of scheduling notes:
Carnival

?         Mr. Francis Argueta and I spoke the other day about distributing the posters for the Carnival.  They are in Sue Gangemi?s office in the Rectory.  We need to leave about six behind.

?         On the Sunday  before the Carnival at 2:00 PM, we will need to set up the shelter for the Carnival and of course, on Saturday night, we will need to take it all down.

?         During the Carnival, we have an opportunity for Scouts to volunteer one hour of their time on any day BEFORE the Carnival starts.

?         The starting times are 6 PM on Tuesday-Friday and 3 PM on Saturday.  If Scouts could come an hour before, that would be great!

Rides

?         Also, there is a change for wristband times.  They are expanding wristbands to include Tuesday and Wednesday evening and Saturday afternoon from 3-6 PM.

?         It is a pay one price of $20 per day for unlimited rides.


?         Regular ride tickets can also be bought BEFORE the Carnival at a discount.  You can call (201.384.0101.) or go to the Rectory for more information on that.

Eagle Scouts

?         We need to carefully watch to ensure that each Scout is not ?aged out? and that they get their projects approved and done, along with the other administrative tasks.

?         We need to follow up to ensure that Sean has a Board of Review.  I will check with him and Mr. Catalano on that.

Scout Retreat

?         It is still the 3rd weekend in October at Ross Dock.

?         We do need someone to attend the Catholic Committee on Scouting meetings in Kearny once each month.

?         There is a need for an Ad Altare Dei and/or a Pius XII class, Let me know ASAP so that we can schedule time around the Church on Sunday nights for them.

?         We will also need facilitators to assist with these classes.

?         If any Scout is not Roman Catholic, we also need to address their religious award needs ASAP.

United States Naval Academy STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Merit Badge Jamboree

?         The event is on Martin Luther King weekend in January, 2016.

?         We need to register promptly when that comes out in early September.


September, November and December Trips

?         These are unknown to me, but I am interested in knowing what is being discussed.

?         There is a lot of need for Scout skill development

Spring
While I am not sure about my availability for the Spring (possibly the same as the last several years, possibly better), we need to map out those events as well.
