Please read his message below - Only God can intervene and stop such hatred and violence. Ruth Dear Friends, Just a few minutes ago I received the following text message on my phone from Sean Malone who leads Crisis Relief International (CRI). We then spoke briefly on the phone and I assured him that we would share this urgent prayer need with all of our contacts. "We lost the city of Queragosh (Qaraqosh). It fell to ISIS and they are beheading children systematically. This is the city we have been smuggling food too. ISIS has pushed back Peshmerga (Kurdish forces) and is within 10 minutes of where our CRI team is working. Thousands more fled into the city of Erbil last night. The UN evacuated it's staff in Erbil. Our team is unmoved and will stay. Prayer cover needed!" Please pray sincerely for the deliverance of the people of Northern Iraq from the terrible advancement of ISIS and its extreme Islamic goals for mass conversion or death for Christians across this region. May I plead with you not to ignore this email. Do not forward it before you have prayed through it. Then send it to as many people as possible. Send it to friends and Christians you may know. Send it to your prayer group. Send it to your pastor and phone him/her to pray on Sunday during the service - making a special time of prayer for this. We need to stand in the gap for our fellow Christians. From W2TTT at ATT.NET Mon Sep 1 17:10:16 2014 From: W2TTT at ATT.NET (J. Tomorrow night we will be taking photos of the Troop for our gallery. These will be both individual and a group photo including the Scouts and adults. Please arrive in full uniform by 7:00 PM so we can get organized and through this process. These photos will be available for downloading by the Troop families at no charge. Once complete, we will be working on Scout skills and designing Patrol flags for each patrol. Keep in mind that on the weekend of September 12-14 we will be camping in Alpine. Further, there will be a Court of Honor for our Scouts along with a dinner at Camp Alpine on Saturday, September 13th at about 5:00 PM. Please plan ahead and let us know if you are going to join your son for this event. Mrs. Miller has provided various requests for the Tricky Tray. Please step up to those requests, as this is our most important fundraiser of the year. We have a few scheduling notes for the fall including a change to the Catholic Scout Retreat which is now set for the weekend of October 31 to November 2nd. This was moved due to the Council Camporee set for the second weekend in October. We plan to attend both and Scouts are expected to participate. We have a request for a yard cleanup for an elderly woman who is not able to handle the brush that has accumulated. We need a group of Scouts and a few adults to address this exceptional need as soon as possible. Please let me know on Tuesday if you have some time to help out. See you on Tuesday at 7:00 PM! 73, Gordon Beattie 201.314.6964 From W2TTT at ATT.NET Wed Sep 3 21:50:36 2014 From: W2TTT at ATT.NET (J. Just wanted to let you know that this weekend was just AWESOME for our Troop! We fearlessly went out camping with a CORRECT forecast for RAIN that included a PLAN to have an OUTDOOR Court of Honor/Pot Luck Supper with PARENTS and other FAMILY MEMBERS who expect to be ENTERTAINED and FED while remaining DRY! We not only accomplished that goal, but also camped comfortably in 45 degree weather, make a really nice fire and HIKED TEN MILES! For several of our Scouts and one dad this was their first campout, or their first campout other than summer camp, so we had some LEARNING EXPERIENCES! :) We will address proper packing in a meeting in two weeks and the parents will be welcome to attend! :) What was charming was that the boys got along very well and executed a huge wood gathering exercise which allowed them to meet the needs of our Troop, but they also left a "courtesy pile" of wood under an overhang that equaled the wood the Troop consumed. When another Troop or Pack comes to camp during a subsequent weekend they will have a dry pile of wood to get them started and possibly through their trip. Let's hope that they gather wood for those behind them! I would like to thank the Scouts for making this trip a pleasure and for the parents for their food, logisitical support and fellowship this weekend. See you on Tuesday for the Order of the Arrow Elections. Don't forget.meet in the garage area by 7:00 because of the Carnival and we will move indoors for the actual election. Scouts are also welcome to donate an hour of their time any day of the Carnival starting at 6:00 PM (Saturday 3:00 PM). Yours in Scouting! I just received word back from the NNJC that we can bring a small group to Floodwood next weekend. As of right now, Mr. Vogel, Mr. Elder and I were going to drive two cars. I can take three Scouts and Mr. Vogel. Mr. Elder can take two. We need confirmations from the following Scouts and interest expressed by any others who will get to go based on age, experience and an available slot in the two cars going. Joe Daly Sergio Valencia Kofi Acquaisie Reinier Carlos Justin Poquet Others are welcome, but we are capped at five Scouts. The costs are pretty straightforward for eight people: * Gas and tolls round trip for two cars: $300 * Per person fee $25 each (8): $200 * Two meals/snacks en route (8): $200 * Total about $110/per person If only three Scouts go with Mr. Vogel and me, then the equation changes: * Gas and tolls round trip for one car: $150 * Per person fee $25 each (5): $125 * Two meals/snacks en route (5): $125 * Total about $80/per person Please confirm ASAP if you are going or are interested in going next week (9/26-9/28). We will be leaving about 7:00 AM and I can do pickups at the homes of those traveling with me. Yours in Scouting! J.
