Troop 139 Scouts, Scouts Parents, Scout Masters, Officers, Friends and
Supporters of Troop 139;
November 15 thru 23 is Hunger and Homeless Awareness week.
Across the Nation, many communities participated in reenactment by making
their tent and cardboard dwellings and braved to sleep outdoors.
Here in Bergen County, in Hackensack, such event took place. Troop 139
scouts and Assistant Scout Masters attended as 'wilderness survival experts'
to advice enactors on survival techniques in sub-freezing temperatures.
There were over two dozen enactor's of various age groups, from young
children to senior citizens, including several retired naval personnel.
There was a review of thirty minutes documentary on the subject from Bergen
County to Ocean County, followed by discussion. This documentary will be
submitted to over seventeen film festivals around the country.
Kudos goes to Mr. Argueta and Scout Giancarlo, for their resourcefulness.
They successfully scrounged and obtained firewood for the event to give
warmth to enactors to last entire night. In the early morning hours, the
fire was going full flame, providing hours of warm moments, including some
delicious s'mores.
Please see some pictures from the event.
Yours in Scouting,
Gurz Gungil
