Hi Folks!
We ARE going to the Edison National Historic Site in West Orange on Saturday
morning and early afternoon. Scouts are to meet in St. John's parking lot
at 8:30 AM in full uniform and bring their lunch, drinks and snacks. There
are no cafeteria facilities where we are going. We will tour the laboratory
of one of America's most gifted inventors and possibly his home as well. We
will be tying this into three merit badges: Inventing, Citizenship in the
Nation and American Heritage. Individual Scouts may also use this
experience for the Communications Merit Badge for its presentation
requirements. No funds are needed unless you want your Scout to visit the
gift shop for a memento or book.
We will NOT BE CAMPING THIS WEEKEND. Sorry, but my cold is still with me
and I am concerned about cold weather camping without adequate supervision.
Camping in sub-freezing temperatures is AWESOME, but REQUIRES specific
knowledge related to one's own care and additional experience when bringing
along our Scouts. Besides, if I went camping this weekend, I would be in
the hospital by Sunday evening, and WE DO NOT WANT THAT! :-) The boys have
acquitted themselves quite well this winter with three nights in
sub-freezing temperatures, and have learned a lot through that process.
See you on Saturday and then again on Tuesday.STAND BY FOR SNOW SHOVELING ON
MONDAY AND TUESDAY!
Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
