Hi Folks!

Our Troop meeting for the Skywarn training yesterday was attended by two Scouts, John Racanelli and Giancarlo Argueta and five adults, Mr. Racanelli, Mr. Argueta, Mr. Gungil, Mrs. Beattie and me.  I would like to congratulate those who benefited from this excellent training by venturing outside the 07621 Zip Code on a rainy night.

Many cited that they did this training  before, and others had illness and other issues, but this lack of overall participation is troublesome.  Such opportunities for excellent, free training are only available once per year, and often not as conveniently located as this was.  Some cited recent participation in that course, and noted the lack of a need for a refresher.  This was my seventh class. I learned several new things, and resolved some confusion as well.  It is like tying  knot; practice makes perfect.
Give that due consideration, 'and adjust your efforts in the future,

I have some upcomming conflicts with work and personal issues, so meetings and trips will need to be planned and managed by others.  I will make myself avalable as possible, but I think it is critically important for there to be a plan A, B and C that does not require my personal attendance.  We will brainstorm on these needs this evening.

Our Troop has a high quality program, mixing traditional Scouting elements with high tech opportunities in an environment of faith, service and fellowship.   Based on the skills of the parents, an opportunity for an even better program for our boys is possible.

Yours in Scouting,
Gordon Beattie
