Hi Folks!
Just a reminder that we will be deciding on whether there will be a May trip
next week during the Troop meeting this week.
We have several adults who have taken all or part of the Boy Scout Leader
training, and they will need to be the core of an overall cadre of parents
who will take on the responsibility for trips going forward. To be clear,
Mr. Gungil and I will gladly attend events when available, but we can't do
this alone, and sometimes not on specific weekends that would be preferable
for the overall benefit of the boys in the Troop. To solve this gap, we
will need adults to step up. This is not a new topic and these specific
months were discussed them back in our meetings December and January.
This Tuesday at 7:30 PM, I would like all parents to come to a parent
meeting to discuss activity, date and supervisory options.
We also have a trip planned with the Cub Pack on the fourth weekend in June
to Campgaw Reservation, but both Mr. Gungil and I are unavailable that
weekend, so some set of adults will need to step forward to manage the Troop
that weekend as well. Mr. Daly and the other Cub leaders will have their
hands full with the overall elements of that event and the needs of the
younger, Cub Scouts. Clearly, additional adults will be needed to support
them.
Finally, Summer Camp at Camp Turrell is set for Sunday, August 4th through
Saturday, August 11th and we are unsure of which Scouts are planning to
attend, and who will be accompanying them. Depending on my son's hockey
tournament schedule this summer, I may not be available, but even if I am,
additional adults will be needed. One last benefit of summer camp for
adults: it is a great opportunity to take all required Boy Scout Leader
training! It is several hours each day and is conducted while the boys are
involved in their program. Consider his to be an EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY!
:-)
Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,
