Hi Folks!

I just want to that the Scouts of Troop 139 for the extraordinary effort in
making the 2012 Cub Scout Outdoor Activity Day a success!

We had over 130 participants (based on registration and walk-ins) in
addition to the staff provided by Troop 139. We can resolve who attended by
comparing the online registration list when it is made available and the
walk-in list that Judy Daly graciously took. We will get everyone their
patches through Roundtable in either December or January.

The energy and excitement expressed throughout the day was so gratifying!

Both Cubs and parents really found the day to the one of quality, fun and
learning. Our objective was to provide a "hands-on" experience for the Cubs
and their parents while also "sending messages" of information to the adults
to better enable them to provide quality experiences for their units. In
short, "BALOO Applied" or if you've taken the BALOO "lecture" then this is
the BALOO "lab". :-)

The Scouts of Troop 139 did a fantastic job providing these events five
times in the activity rotation. The clearly demonstrated their competence
and enthusiasm for sharing their God-given gifts of experience and talent
with others in Scouting.

Below is the rotation followed by lunch

1. Knife Handling, Fire Starting

2. Knots, Tents

3. CPR, Camp Promotion

4. Map & Compass, Lantern Lighting

5. Camp Tech, High Tech

1. Lunch (After all other activities)

I want to apologize for the way lunch started.

It was a bit messed up due to a couple of personal emergencies that came up
during the event. In one case, Mr. Jo Jo Carlos had a business issue that
required him to step away for a couple of hours, and in the second, my wife
Nancy's car broke down (it's dead and we need a new one). Mr. Gurz Gungil
rescued Nancy from Oradell Ave. because my big blue van couldn't go anywhere
during the event because of the power and antennas it was supporting! :-)
In any case, these fine gentlemen supported this event from start to finish
(Friday night through Saturday night) and made it all happen. They are
wonderful assistant Scoutmasters who find a way to be committed to the
program and what we all are trying to do!

Let me also thank Carolyn Miller for picking up all the food and Diana
Valencia, Nancy Beattie, Charlene Gungil, Dennis Aujero for their support.
Finally, I want to thank Assistant Scoutmasters and Eagle Scouts Joe
Maccaro, Karl Schubert and Robbie Schubert for their help in the Friday to
Saturday overnight setup and supervision before they had the head off to
work and school on Saturday. All of this shows that we are "many parts.but
all one Body".

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Yours in Scouting!

Thanks & 73,

Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
