Hi Folks!
We will be finalizing Summer/Summer Camp Merit Badges, doing advancement and
packing for camp at each of the meetings this month. It
is each Scout's responsibility to go over their advancement sheets when they
are sent out. I will send out copies of both our copy of each Scout's
TroopMaster and BSA ScoutNet reports. If there are missing items or items
with inconsistent dates, please let me know and we can fix those
discrepancies.
Mrs. Valencia has your Summer/Summer Camp Merit Badge forms. You can review
them at the meetings.
For Summer Camp, we need to submit your badge choices in advance, so please
let's get this done ASAP.
Patrol Duty Rosters, Merit Badge schedules and other key data will need to
be assembled prior to camp. The Senior Patrol Leader will work with the
Scribes to assemble this information and get it into shape with some help
from the adults.
Troop Historians, under the direction of the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader,
will need to plan how they are going to document our summer camp adventures!
They should plan on engaging as many boys in the Troop as possible to take
photos, write stories and to collect artifacts that can be brought back from
camp.
Troop Quartermasters, under the direction of the Assistant Senior Patrol
Leader, will need to check through our equipment and make sure that
everything is clean, sharp, and neatly organized and packed for camp. If
they see something missing or not in good condition, then they need to make
this known to the adults who can suggest ways to resolve it.
Medical forms require a check up for all Scouts and adults going to camp.
The check-up must be after 8/25/2011. Otherwise, you will need to go to the
doctor for a check-up.
Scouts need to attend meetings in full Scout uniform, including their Troop
139 neckerchief, if earned, and Scout socks. No one will go to camp without
having demonstrated that they have their full uniform.
Also, each Scout should consider some additional badges to do at home during
the summer. These could be anything, but particular attention should be
given to Reading, Scholarship, Music, Bugling, Dog Care, Pet Care, Coin
Collecting and Collections. Other badges can be earned as well, so consider
going online to see the list of Boy Scout Merit Badges and let me know of
your interest in one or more. Of course ( :-) ) if anyone would like to do
Radio, that can be accommodated! :-)
Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
