[Troop139] CERT Training Starts Wednesday

Hi Folks!

  

We have just received a copy of the schedule for a new round of Community
Emergency Response Team or CERT training at the County level which begins
this Wednesday.  This course is FREE and open to anyone in the eighth grade
or older.  Adults and other family members are encouraged to take this
course as well.  If you are planning to attend, please let us know if you
can drive another Scout who might need a ride.  

 

Pre-registration is not required, but I would like to know who is planning
to attend.  I do know that Arslan Gungil is planning to attend with his
older sister and parents, so you won't be the only ones in the class from
our Troop.  

In the past, we've had over a dozen Scouts and a half-dozen adults take this
informative course.  It takes the Emergency Preparedness and other safety
related Scouting activities and reinforces the really important elements and
also expands on them which is good for both Scouting and Venturing
requirements.

 

Scouts should wear their tan shirt and green pants uniforms to all classes.
It is a privilege to be able to attend this course as a youth and your
uniform will give you more credibility.  Det. Gidget Petry has always
supported Troop 139's efforts to have well trained Scouts who can look after
themselves, their families and the public around them when bad things arise
and also to help bad things from arising!  

 

The course is held at the Law and Public Safety Academy on Campgaw Rd. in
Mahwah.


Remember that if you miss any particular class session, you can always make
it up at another training session and still get certified.
