Hi Folks!
We had a GREAT WEEKEND at the New Jersey State Police Camporee at Sea Girt,
NJ. This event is run every three or four years by our State Police and was
enlightening to the boys and adults as well!
Twenty Scouts and Dads had signed up and all went very well with several of
the Scouts earning all or part of the Fingerprinting, Crime Prevention and
other Merit Badges. There were also law enforcement tactical air and ground
assault demonstrations, National Guard demonstrations and arena shows.
Just a reminder that we will be gathering at the Old South Cemetery near
Cooper's Pond tomorrow night to place flags on the graves of Veterans in
advance of Memorial Day on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
By about 8:00 PM we will be heading to St. John's to complete the meeting.
We will be taking a list of any outstanding Merit Badge, Rank and other
awards this week and next in preparation for our Troop Court of Honor next
month. If you need a Scoutmaster Conference and a Board of Review, please
let me know ASAP.
Jeanne Dewey reminds us to please get current on your 2010-2011 dues and to
also get your payments in for Summer Camp. If you need outstanding balance
information, please contact Jeanne or me.
She is cc:'d on this email for your convenience.
We will be marching on Monday in the Memorial Day Parade. Plan to be at our
start location at 1:45 in FULL UNIFORM. I will let you know the location
tomorrow evening. After the parade, we will have ice cream in Memorial Park
before heading home!
For timely reinforcement of our Scouting values, please plan your summer
reading to include this book.
On My Honor: Why the American Values of the Boy Scouts Are Worth Fighting
for
by Eagle Scout and Governor of Texas Rick Perry.

If you intend to read this book, please let me know as we are interested in
tracking the reactions of the Scouts (and PARENTS!) :-)
Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,
Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
