Hi Folks!

BOARDS OF REVIEW
This week we will be conducting Boards of Review and finalizing our
Advancement Report during the Troop meeting.
We need parents to help with these Boards of Review.

UNIFORMS

All Scouts planning to advance need to wear the full uniform and bring their
Scout Handbooks to the meeting.

We have had much difficulty in getting this simple process done and it has
created an issue for several Scouts.

Please ensure that your son does this whether or not they plan to advance,
as it is expected at Troop meetings every week.

TROOP COURT OF HONOR

We have re-scheduled the Troop Court of Honor to Tuesday, June 21st at 7:15
PM. A Pot Luck Supper for Scouts AND FAMILIES will start at 6:30 PM in the
Church Basement.

SUMMER CAMP (Sunday August 1 through Saturday, August 7)

Those going to Camp Turrell need to pay their Summer Camp fee AND
substantially complete their 2010-2011 dues payments before Camp. Jeanne
Dewey has your Troop balance statements if you need them. If you applied
for a Council Campership, the amounts have also been provided to Jeanne
Dewey, and she can let you know how much assistance was available from the
Council and the amount left to get your son to camp.

We would like all Scouts to attend summer camp with the Troop, as this is a
key growth opportunity experience for every boy. Unfortunately, there are
some Scouts who are in arrears with no apparent reason or explanation. This
depletes our ability to help those who truly need assistance, so please
contact Jeanne. Please work with her to get this up to date or to work out
alternatives if that is not possible.

Merit Badge selections will be made at the end of June and early July. If
you are going to be away, please see me over the next two weeks to get
approval for your program.

Adults are needed for Summer Camp at Camp Turrell. One of the side benefits
of attending for the full week is that you have the opportunity to attend
all Boy Scout Leader Training sessions during the week at no charge. The
current plan is to not charge for any adult planning to attend camp this
summer, though we may need to make an adjustment to that if a Scout needs
the funding from the Troop in order to attend.

TROOP CAMPERSHIPS

At this time it is unclear whether we will be able to fund Troop-level
camperships for those who need them. As mentioned above, we have
significant amounts of money owed to the Troop which, if paid would allow us
to provide all needed assistance. Further, for several years there have
been generous SCOUTS from our Troop who have reached into their own pockets
to contribute to the Troop's Campership fund, so that other boys could go to
camp. We should be very proud of those unnamed young men for their
thoughtful generosity. Finally, for years we have had a series of "angels"
who have helped this Troop close gaps, but like many families, they may not
be able to be generous this year because of the shape of the economy. Every
bit helps, so do what you can to be as current as you can so that your son
and his fellow Scouts can have a solid program.

JUNE CAMPING TRIP AT CAMPGAW RESERVATION (June 24-26)

The Troop will be going to Campgaw Reservation from Friday evening to Sunday
for a fun-filled weekend of camping, fishing, hiking, Amateur Radio Field
Day and GREAT FOOD! More will be sent out on this topic, but Scouts and
PARENTS need to commit to this trip ASAP.

Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,

Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
