[Troop139] National Weather Service Open House

Hi Folks!
This is the day after we return from Camp Turrell, but since it often
directly conflicts with other Troop events, I thought I would ask if anyone
would like to go on a visit to the National Weather Service (NWS) Office in
Upton, NY?  

 

The NWS SkyWarn program is something that many Troop members participate in
and weather awareness and safety are key elements to outdoor activity
safety.  There is no course or class, but this open house should be
interesting!

 

Please let me know and we'll get things organized to car pool.

The NWS Upton NY (New York) NY will hold its annual Open House event on
Sunday, August 7 2011 from 10AM thru 4PM. A special Weather Balloon launch
will be conducted at 3:30 PM, so you might want to schedule your visit to
include that event too!

"On August 7, the New York, NY National Weather Service office will host its
annual open house! The theme this year is "Hurricane Preparedness" and we
will be giving presentations that focus on hurricane preparedness throughout
the day. You will also get a tour of our office, see how we forecast the
weather and meet and learn about many of our partners who will have booths
at the event. The end of the open house concludes with a weather balloon
launch that is a big hit for everyone!"
