Gordon,

I haven't heard anything on anyone needing a ride Friday afternoon and I now have work that I had to commit to so I will be coming in very early on Saturday. It's about a 3 hour trip and we're planning to leave around 5am so I should be there by 8 - 8:30 am.

If anyone wishes to ride with us, there's still an open invitation. In addition let me know if you need me to pick anything up on the way in.

Benny

Hi Folks!

I have also included directions from Bergenfield at the end of this email.

Please make sure that your Scout and/or you are ready for some serious walking.

Our objectives are as follows:

1.	Hike the Blue and the Gray Trails
2.	Visit the Visitors Center exhibits
3.	Tour President Eisenhower's home
4.	Hear Mass on Sunday in downtown Gettysburg and then tour the town
before heading home.

Items 1-3 will be accomplished as a function of availability and weather and will be determined once we arrive at the Visitors Center. Tickets need to be obtained and in-person reservations will be made there.

Here is the Google map link for directions from camp to the battlefield.

Location: 1195 Baltimore Pike, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA

GPS coordinates- 77.22 degrees West, 39.81 degrees North.

Visitor Center Hours
8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.- April 1 to October 31.

The Soldiers Cemetery is open from Dawn to Dusk.

The Battlefield is open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Meals will be simple, Breakfast will be oatmeal, cocoa, coffee, tea and Tang; Lunch will be trail sandwiches and drinks; and dinner will be either at a buffet place or pizza. We are doing this to be quick and economical, so that the maximum time can be spent on touring.

The days are long, but varied and interesting as you soak in the experience of the battle.

We will be walking/hiking a lot, so plan on a day pack with weather gear, flashlights, safety equipment and communications gear if you have it.
Charge cell phones and Amateur Radio.

Handie-Talkies if you have them. IPODs and video games are only for long travel times and after we are done for the night.

Dress in layers, have rain gear and water bottles. For camp you will need a warm sleeping bag, a pad and eating utensils.

If you have any questions, please give me a call.

Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,

Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
