Hi Folks!

On behalf of Troop 139/Venture Crew 7373, I would like to express our
gratitude for to the members of the 10/70 Repeater Association for bringing
their meeting to our doorstep and share their program with our
Scouts/Venturers and their families.

Ron Bosco's presentation on learning Morse Code as a language, instead of as
a "code" was insightful. His comments about overseas travel and Amateur
Radio operation from foreign countries with different social customs, laws,
rights, as well as different Amateur Radio operational characteristics were
eye opening to many!

This month, we are having an all-day, Amateur Radio Technician Class
Licensing Class on Friday, April 29th with a test session at 7:00 PM in the
same room. If anyone you know is interested in taking the course, please
let me know and I will email them study materials and resources. We can
also arrange for testing of any license class, but we need advance notice to
ensure that there are enough copies of the test available for those who need
them.

In May, we are planning a "build-it" night on one or two Wednesday evenings.
We have two 45W solar panel sets which need to be mounted on two 4x4 ft
aluminum frames and rewired with larger gauge wire to reduce the losses
found in the original cabling. Our goal is to have a teaching tool for
solar power and also have access to power when we are site camping during
the year. Other projects can also be developed and worked on during our
session(s).

I'll get you the date(s) as soon as we schedule them.

10/70 members are welcome to join us for any of these activities and

We look forward to joining you in June for Field Day at Campgaw Reservation
in Mahwah. Over the next few weeks, we can join with you in planning for
that event.

Again, thank you again for this interesting evening. We hope that we can
share more in the future!

Yours in Scouting!
Thanks & 73,

Gordon Beattie, W2TTT
