Coming back from 5U country, I want to deal with you a funny story ...

Last october, I have decided to go on vacation in 5U to see something different
and check what Africa can offer to me. As very often in Africa, I asked an ham
call, 5U0T.
No answer received but I went there anyway...
I visited the Ministry of Communication in Niamey, I met there the people
issuing the ham licences and he told me that I just have to fullfill an other
application, that there will be no problem for the processing, the fax I have
sent from France did not reached him, hummm

Days passing one by one and still no answer, the local chief is ill or not in
the office, etc ...

After some days and ... we had the visit from the local policemen ... someone
has given us, but who ??

Yeah .. of course !!! An italian team, planning to come here in February 2002 !

Our Icom706 and some dipoles were not welcome as per the judgment of these
"dollars eaters" ...

So, should it be known that  I2YSB, IK2DIA, I2UIY, IK2WXV, I1HJT and IZ5BRW have
asked, via the help local "friends", the Nigerian police to come in our hotel
and shut down our radio plans. Is that HAM SPIRIT ??

And you know what ?? These Italians have received the 5U0T !! Funny, isn't it ?!

De retour d'un voyage en 5U, je viens vous narrer une petite histoire rigolote
.....

En octobre dernier, j'ai decid� d'aller en 5U pour me depayser et voir ce que
l'Afrique pouvait m'apporter. Comme cela se fait souvent en Afrique j'ai demand�
un indicatif radioamateur, 5U0T.

Pas de reponse alors j'y suis all� quand meme ....

donne les indicatifs radioamateur et m'a signal� qu'il fallait simplement
refaire une demande et que cela ne poserais pas de probleme parcequ'il n'avait
jamais recu le fax, hmmm

Les jours passent et toujours pas de reponse, le reponsable est malade, il n'est
pas dans son bureau etc...

Quelques jours passent et visite de la police, quelqu'un nous avait denonc�.
Mais qui alors ?

Mais c'est bien sur , un team Italien qui part en fevrier 2002 !

Un icom 706 et quelques dipoles pouvait faire de l'ombre a ce team mangeur de
dollars ......

Voici juste un mail pour que vous sachiez que I2YSB IK2DIA I2UIY IK2WXV I1HJT et
IZ5BRW ont fait appeler par des connaissances Nigerienne la police juste pour
quoi au juste ?  HAM SPIRIT ??

Au fait le comble, il ont obtenu 5U0T? amusant non ?
