Hello all:
If you are interested I can probably scrounge up a NOS Motorola Maxar
80 commercial FM transceiver, along with a crystal for somewhere between
144.275 and 144.300 MHz (I think I have a crystal for .285 but have to
check). These are the same units that the Six Meter Beacon Project
_http://www.6meterbeaconproject.org/_ (http://www.6meterbeaconproject.org/) has used.
Output power can be varied; as stand alone 6 meter beacons the units are
set at about 35 watts output.
I usually install an N0XAS pico keyer (programmable) board that opens
and closes the ptt circuitry. Since the unit is transmitting a carrier
with no modulation it is pure CW. Not elegant but simple and rugged. The
Maxar is about the size of a TR-751 or CB radio and needs a 12v supply.
If you want to hook it up to an amp I will have to look to see how to
get a ptt to the amp.
From past experience I strongly urge that whatever you come up with
be as close to plug and. That means including a power supply, feedline and
antenna(s).
73 and Happy New Year to everyone,
Chris Patterson W3CMP
