[TransAtlantic] Azores 2M beacon?

Mark,
If beacons are built the way I've put the ones in NC and USVI together, they would use a Kenwood TR-751A driving a 160 watt amplifier to about 100 watts. That means the TR-751A runs about 7W output. My amp of preference on new builds is the Teletec DXP-V175. Rugged but hard to find. Also, the preamp is poor in the Teletec, so it's better to use a masthead preamp anyway for serious RX capability.
Fred pointed the KP2M beacon south initially for testing, and promptly worked a bunch of PYs on TEP! I believe it was scheduled to be pointed NE about now towards Portugal .The beacon in Oriental NC is being watched over by Glenn Everest N4LV. He lives a block away from Chris Miele's place, in her old house actually. You might want to touch base with him.
