I wonder if he worked at WATO.  There was a 'Dave' Brown that was chief engineer in the mid 70's when I worked there.

David L. Brown, age 68, of Oak Ridge, passed away Dec. 21, 2010.

He was a member of Edgemoor Baptist Church. He retired from  
broadcasting and was a member of the Oak Ridge Amateur Radio Club and  
his call sign was WA4HGP.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Mae Brown; and  
sisters, Lois Brown and Joyce LaVenge.

Survivors include his wife, Diana Brown of Oak Ridge; mother-in-law,  
Juanita Robinson of Heiskell; and sister-in-law, Judy Robinson of  
Heiskell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23,  
2010, at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with the funeral following at  
8 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Rick Miller officiating.

Family and friends will meet at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, 2010, at  
Oak Ridge Memorial Park for graveside services.
