Hi All,
The ux-4 results are on the www.utarc.org main page. The beacon
continues to be recieved in La Crescent Minnesota and Okalaska Wisconsin
with regular reports still coming in, battery voltage is at 11.3, it had
dipped down to 10.5 at high altitude, I think the styrofoam has provided
good insulation. It's probably hanging in a tree, and will continue to
transmit through tomorrow probably. I'll have some pics online later of
launch, it was good, uneventful, and the clear day allowed us to watch
it almost 20 minutes into the flight with binoculars. Bill Brown
predicted our mission data as reported on the web page, and his
predictions match our signal anomalies that we interpreted as burst and
then landing perfectly, so the landing data should be reasonably
accurate. The 20m transmitter performed great, a 597 throughout the
flight, though the antenna geometry changed like a pendulum, and caused
the frequency to drift back and forth all the while it was in air,
though not enough to impede decoding.
This design, perhaps with some modification to avoid the effect of the
antenna geometry affecting the frequency, looks good to go for future
missions, a fully digitally interfaced CW transmitter at nearly 1 watt.
Thanks,
Dan
