[TNham] Attention AOL Subscribers!!!

I have received word from the admin at QTH that they are again having
issues with AOL.

QTH.net does NOT send spam out of the system. If there is SPAM, it is
because:

1) The email address of the SPAM sender is spoofed, or
2) The email contained a virus resulting from the recent spread of them
that, again, spoofs the sender's address into thinking that it came from
QTH.net/QSL.net.

There is a button on the email portion of the AOL interface that is
labeled "this message is SPAM". This button is located dangerously
close to the "delete" button.

Over the past year, QTH has been working hard to keep their system from
being blocked by AOL. Every time it has happened, it takes days, even
weeks to get the problem straightened out. Recently an effort was made
to, once and for all, end the blocks placed by AOL and be placed on
AOL's "white list". In order to have this done, QTH had to agree to be
sent any and every complaint logged as SPAM, from any user, and this is
where the "button" comes in to play.

No one at AOL reads this stuff, but they keep track of them and after
QTH/QSL reaches a certain percentage of the mail sent versus how many
complaints they get, AOL will block the entire system.

QTH is getting plenty of these "complaints" and since AOL does not tell
them who is complaining (apparently a privacy issue), it's near
impossible to find out who they are and remove them from the system.

Therefore, QTH has asked us to pass along to the users of the system
with AOL addresses that, anytime you delete messages, PLEASE do not hit
the "SPAM" button on the interface, as it will be logged and could
eventually create yet another block by AOL of all QTH/QSL addresses. If
you mass-delete messages that include QTH/QSL email and press the "SPAM"
button because it's more convenient than hitting "delete", you may be
causing the eventual block of all email from QTH/QSL.

If you are receiving email that has a QSL/QTH email attached to it, and
it appears to be SPAM, please contact Al, K3TKJ at k3tkj at qsl.net or Tim
at llistowner at qth.net. The system's policy regarding SPAM is located at
http://www.qsl.net/spampolicy.html.
