There will also be another Field Day setup in the West Knoxville area. We
are not associated with any club or organization. We have been doing Field
Day as a small group for many years, but decided to set up this year to
attempt to recruit new hams into the hobby. We will be focusing on the many
technological aspects of the hobby as possible and demonstrating them
instead of our usual relentless pursuit of massive points (ahem). Some of
the highlights of our exhibition this year will be a full satellite
station, including AO-40 (phase IIId satellite), APRS, PSK-31, MT63,
traditional HF/VHF voice and CW, and packet. We encourage anyone interested
to drop by and visit us, and also ask everyone to visit the many club
sponsored Field Day stations in the area and meet the East Tennessee hams.
We will also have directions to local Field Day sites for you to make the
rounds. Anyone local to the Knoxville area, Oak Ridge, Maryville, etc..,
please send me directions to your Field Day site and I will include your
group on the map.
Our location will the at the ITT Technical Institute campus in West
Knoxville. Directions are to take the Pellissippi Parkway / SR162 /I-140
exit number 376 off of I-40 and head North toward Oak Ridge. Take the first
exit or Dutchtown Road, and head West of the parkway to Cogdill Road, which
is at the red light on the immediate West side. Turn South on Cogdill back
toward Interstate 40 for 0.4 miles to the SECOND right turn into Technology
Drive. If you turn into the first one, it's a horseshoe and loops around.
You will see ITT and the antennas from the road.
We will be operating under the call WA4RYW, and the GOTA (Get On The Air)
station will be operated under WA4SZO.
Welcome one and all!
