midnight) for now on 146.940 unless circumstances warrant otherwise.

...winter storm warning late tonight into early sunday evening...
.a storm system over the southern plains will continue to strengthen
and move east across the gulf coast states tonight. this system will
be just south of east tennessee by daybreak sunday...then track northeast
across northern georgia and the carolinas sunday afternoon.
light to moderate snow is expected to spread into southeast tennessee
and southwestern north carolina late tonight. the snow may begin as
a mix of snow...sleet and rain...before changing to all snow sunday
morning. the snow will spread across the rest of east tennessee and
southwestern virginia sunday morning and afternoon...and the snow may
become heavy at times...especially in the mountainous areas. at least
light snow showers will continue sunday night for northeast tennessee
and southwestern virginia.
total snowfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches will be possible over
the tennessee valley and cumberland plateau...with amounts of 6 to 12
inches possible in the mountains along the tennessee and north carolina
stateline.
a winter storm warning is issued when severe winter weather is
expected to occur. a combination of heavy snow...ice...strong
winds...and cold temperatures are forecast causing dangerous driving
conditions. those with travel plans should use extreme caution if
travel is unavoidable.
