The following is an email sent out by Tim/KD8IZU regarding the ARES SET.
The SET (simulated emergency test) will occur this coming Saturday. The drill will occupy both the TMRA 147.270 as well as the 442.850 repeaters. It can be expected that FLDIGI and SSTV will be used in this drill and on these Repeater Frequencies. The TMRA has a long standing relationship with ARES and frequently allows them the use of our Repeaters. Please feel free to participate if you desire, you do not need to be an ARES member for this Drill.
Please also plan to keep non-emergency traffic clear of these Repeaters on Saturday Morning.
Finally, be sure to start all transmissions with your Tactical location and end them with your FCC Call-sign and the words “ this is a drill”
I.E.
A call from the ARES Truck to net control would start and end like this
Start:
“Net control this is Lucas County 400”
End:
“Thank you Net, Lucas County 400, WB8RG, clear, this is a drill”
Thank you and I hope you can participate on Saturday.
Here’s what Tim has to say.
The SET will be held Saturday and will be completely different than in past. Participants will be asked to check in on the repeater, there you will be given your assignment. As we still can't go into the hospitals, we will be asking you to go to the parking lots of the hospital (if that is your assignment). Should you be assigned to the EOC (we are separating the truck and trailer) you will be asked to report to the 911 building's parking lot, there you will find the trailer.
If you should be assigned to a shelter, we will provide directions if necessary.
DO NOT report to a hospitals on tour own, check in with NCS and report to your assigned location.
This is going to be an actual boots on the ground emergency drill and we are asking everyone to participate. The SET is being treated as true emergency.
Frequency’s only use will be as follows
primary repeater: 146.940 103.5pl
secondary repeater (Hospital and digital traffic) 147.270 103.5pl
Simplex and Backup frequency 145.555
All alerts will be sent over the repeaters and the Text Alert system
If you are not set up on the ARES ALERT system listen to 146.940 repeater for the activation.
