From rhall987 at robhall.org Thu Sep 3 09:51:51 2020 From: rhall987 at robhall.org (Robert Hall) Date: Thu, 3 Sep 2020 09:51:51 -0400 Subject: [TMRA] 2020/2021 TMRA Elections Message-ID: The TMRA Executive Committee has made the decision to move forward with elections. You have until the September meeting to let someone on the nominating committee, which includes Ron (N8RLH), Brad (WB8RG) or Mike (W8MAL), know if you would like to nominate yourself or someone else that is interested in any officer position (President, VP, Treasurer, Bursar or Secretary). The offices of President and VicePresident are definitely opening and Zack has offered to step down from the Secretary position if there is interest by anyone else. However, yes, you can challenge for any open officer seat if you wish (if you are member and meet the simple requirements of the bylaws regarding being an officer). While we have identified a few people willing to run for a few of these roles going forward, you are welcome to nominate yourself or others that are interested if identified. Currently Steve (W8TER) has offered to run for President (unless there is another interested individual). Glenn (W8MUK) has offered to run for VicePresident. We don't currently have anyone listed as interested in the Secretary role, so let us know if you are. We'll be moving forward and announcing these positions very soon. If these positions stay non-contested (as they are today), these will be announced at the September General meeting on September 9th (so, we need to know before then). If anything is contested, we'll run a mail in and email vote which would end at the end of September (more info to follow, if needed). Please watch all of our social media sources and newsletter for more info. The SET (simulated emergency test) will occur this coming Saturday. The drill will occupy both the TMRA 147.270 as well as the 442.850 repeaters. It can be expected that FLDIGI and SSTV will be used in this drill and on these Repeater Frequencies. The TMRA has a long standing relationship with ARES and frequently allows them the use of our Repeaters. Please feel free to participate if you desire, you do not need to be an ARES member for this Drill. Please also plan to keep non-emergency traffic clear of these Repeaters on Saturday Morning. Finally, be sure to start all transmissions with your Tactical location and end them with your FCC Call-sign and the words ? this is a drill? I.E. A call from the ARES Truck to net control would start and end like this Start: ?Net control this is Lucas County 400? End: ?Thank you Net, Lucas County 400, WB8RG, clear, this is a drill? Thank you and I hope you can participate on Saturday. Here?s what Tim has to say. The SET will be held Saturday and will be completely different than in past. Participants will be asked to check in on the repeater, there you will be given your assignment. As we still can't go into the hospitals, we will be asking you to go to the parking lots of the hospital (if that is your assignment). Should you be assigned to the EOC (we are separating the truck and trailer) you will be asked to report to the 911 building's parking lot, there you will find the trailer. If you should be assigned to a shelter, we will provide directions if necessary. DO NOT report to a hospitals on tour own, check in with NCS and report to your assigned location. This is going to be an actual boots on the ground emergency drill and we are asking everyone to participate. The SET is being treated as true emergency. Frequency?s only use will be as follows primary repeater: 146.940 103.5pl secondary repeater (Hospital and digital traffic) 147.270 103.5pl Simplex and Backup frequency 145.555 All alerts will be sent over the repeaters and the Text Alert system If you are not set up on the ARES ALERT system listen to 146.940 repeater for the activation. When: October 3rd 2020 est time 10:00am Where:Lucas County Ohio What: ARES SET (simulated Emergency Test) Why: To test the readiness and Capabilities of Lucas County ARES Members, their Leadership and the Amateur Community and it?s Equipment.
