From w8ter at bex.net Sun Oct 4 16:18:47 2020 From: w8ter at bex.net (Steve Bellner) Date: Sun, 4 Oct 2020 16:18:47 -0400 Subject: [TMRA] Mini Field Day/General Meeting October 14th 2020 Message-ID: <8df7380a-f02d-9a89-77b1-0c0d3a05ed57@bex.net> I want to thank you for supporting ham radio. Because Autumn is underway and Winter is on it's way I have decided to try to have one more event before the snow flies. Because we have been unable to have much fun in the way of Radio events I have scheduled a "NO" trees Mini Field Day at Rolf Park, 2115 Cass Rd Maumee. We will have ham radio operation on 40/80 meters... maybe more. The date is Wednesday October 14th 2020. The time is from 4 pm until 10 pm. _Talk-in is 147.270._ A CHAIR, A MASK and SOCIAL DISTANCING will be required. FOOD... I'll be getting my evening meal from _5 Guys and Fries_ or _Pizza Hut_. There is also Frisches, Outback, Wendys and McDonalds. The public is welcome. I am planning on holding and running the TMRA General meeting from this event starting at 7 pm. I will also take check-ins on the TMRA repeater for those who do not attend the Mini Field Day event. *The Mini Field Day will be cancelled if there is _rain_ forecast or if it is too _cold_. The cancellation will be put out over the TMRA repeater and by E-mail. There is _no_ rain date. * *The General meeting will still be held on the 147.270 Repeater.* *73,* *Steve/W8TER* -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It has been around forever. Doesn?t cost an arm and a leg and works perfectly for Digital. We have a weekly FLDigi Net that includes FLMsg, Winlink and SSTV. I interface it with their PG-5H two cable PC interface kit, an inexpensive USB/Audio sound card (~ $7.00 online) and you will need a serial (DB9) to usb converter cable which will give you a COM port on your computer. The radio has to be switched to Echolink Sysop mode and off you go. There are 5 user memories (for 5 different user setups). I have one just for digital and switch to that for the net. You can even set up which side of the receiver you wish for digital and which for analog. For one net I had the a memory programmed for the ?A? side analog into the net control repeater with the ?B? side set up for digital (sound and squelch off) to run digital. Press the mic and transmit/receive on ?A?, run the digital and transmit/receive on ?B?. If you decide to go that route I can send you a link to the setup instruction. I wanted a small radio with a mounted face plate for my shack setup. The newer version (I think it is the 710a) has APRS etc. which wasn?t needed for my purpose. The only complaint was that the fan is a bit loud for a base setup. I immediately voided my warranted by replacing the fan (with the appropriate Noctura) using the 3M connectors (no solder) to make it virtually silent with transmission. (Google instructions online). Good luck with whatever you do.
