URL: From tmrainformation at gmail.com Tue Aug 11 14:18:02 2020 From: tmrainformation at gmail.com (Brad Ruhberg) Date: Tue, 11 Aug 2020 14:18:02 -0400 Subject: [TMRA] Wires x Message-ID: The summary of this email from Art/K8XG is that the TMRA Wires X Repeater will no longer be able to connect to America Link. Users may move to any room they desire (after assuring that the repeater is not being used locally). Please always return the Repeater to the room it was in prior to your use. From Art/K8XG, TMRA's Wires-X repeater has had problems with America Link and it is not the only repeater to have problems with this. 6 weeks ago Grant who owns and setup America link asked his users to properly leave 2-3 seconds between key ups so others can break in and/or repeater users can spin their repeater to another room. 6 weeks later the main users always talking on the LInk still are quick keying. Sunday several waited for over 50 mins while "Jon" and his friends kept quick keying not allowing other to join the conversion and other repeater users to move to different rooms. At last month's tech comm meeting, we had discussed the frustration that people were having disconnecting from Americas link. Many times it is so busy with conversations and hardly any, to no good spaces between overs "good practice" that you are not able to get in and move the node or disconnect from the link. We had decided that at least for a time, blocking Americas Link, but allowing users to connect anywhere else they pleased not just or only to the Ohio link. Nothing against Americas link generally, and as everyone knows lots of people like to listen to Americas link but dont intend on talking there, just listen during the day, this makes it very difficult for those who want to make contacts elsewhere. As with any linked repeater, it is general courtesy to put it back where you found it when your done. I believe I have conveyed our thoughts on the subject correctly. This is not necessarily a permanent move but an attempt to satisfy those who want to make contacts, it will likely not be well received by everyone, especially those who just want to listen. Of note 443.975 has been hooked via YSF to America Link and you can use that as an alternative for the time being when the owner has it hooked up to America Link. Note at this time you cannot change rooms on 443.975 but this likely will change in the future. Sent from my iPhone -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
