The TMRA/Lucas County Ares will not be participating in Ohio NVIS Antenna Day this year. This is due to the fact that the following day is the Glass City Marathon. We hope to be back next year with a GREAT Ohio NVIS Antenna Day event. We encourage you as individuals to Participate if you have the proper Equipment. GLASS CITY MARATHON
Its time again for the GLASS CITY MARATHON. The GCM is by far the biggest Volunteer Operation that we, as Amateur Radio Operators, participate in EVERY YEAR. Lucas County ARES NEEDS YOUR HELP!!!! We are taking sign-ups for Volunteers to work Field and Command Post Positions. WE NEED YOU AND YOUR RADIO!!! Never worked an event before? No problem, we have you covered. WE always work to assign First time Operators with an experienced Operator, we also are offering an Orientation program at the April ARES Meeting*. All you need is a Fully Charged 2 meter Band HT, a few Hours of time and the willingness to help out the commuity.

BUS TO HAMVENTION

SATURDAY  MAY 18TH 2019

Once again this year the TMRA will be chartering a Bus to Hamvention.

 Sit back and relax with the TMRA on our Luxury Tour Bus from Lakefront Lines. Ride stress free to Hamvention. Once on-site you will have quick access to the front Gate at Hamvention 2019. The Bus is there for you, ALL DAY!!! Need to take a break, sit and relax on the  Air conditioned Bus. Did you buy a LARGE Item? No Problem, The Buses Cargo Hold will be available to Transit your finds back to Toledo NO PROBLEM (within reason of course).

 WE STOP FOR FOOD!!!  Dinner is on you at one of several Restaurants in Dayton Ohio on the return trip.

TMRA SPRING TECHNICIAN LICENSE CLASS

The TMRA is happy to announce the Spring Technicians License Class. This Springs Class will follow the TMRAs typical 2 session format.
The second session is on April 6th. The April 6th session will be immediately followed by a V.E. test Session.  The course, as always is free. The V.E. Test will be a standard $15.00 charge and Books are available through the TMRA for a discounted rate of $25.00. If you, or someone you know is looking to become a Licensed Radio Amateur, please plan to attend.

TMRA New Ham Seminar

I have my License now what?

The TMRA is happy to announce the return of the New Ham Seminar. You have gotten your Ham Ticket and now you stand at the doorway to the entire world of Ham Radio, BUT NOW WHAT DO YOU DO FIRST?
This Seminar was created to help answer that question. There will be a variety of Equipment on-site, as well as experienced Hams to answer questions and give demonstrations.

C.W.TRAINING SESSIONS

These sessions are a relaxed and fun way to start to learn or to brush up on “The Code”. 
If you are attending and have a Key or other equipment please bring it along.
Don’t have any C.W. Equipment? No problem, Steve will have everything you need to get started.
If you are interested in learning about C.W. this is the perfect way to get started.

TMRA APPAREL.

The TMRA apparel store can be found at www.goldmedalideas.com/tmra .  Gold Medal Ideas can now process orders directly from you via their website, with the specific apparel selection, color and additional callsign/name options (as you choose).  Please check back, however, as TMRA does expect to be adding some new logo options to the site very soon.  

This online store is handled entirely by Gold Medal Ideas, the same group that attends our TMRA Hamfest each year.  In fact, if you order something now, you will see the countdown to our Hamfest on the store website indicating that they could deliver it to you at the Hamfest without any shipping.  

Please let us know if you have a preference for any specific kind of clothing or colors that you don't see available so that we can consider future additions.

ANTENNA BUILD

The TMRA will be hosting an 2 Meter Slot Cube Antenna Build (date TBD). The Antenna for this build can be found in the January 2019 QST Magazine, on pages 35 and 36. The build will be hosted by the TMRA Tech committee, and the cost is estimated to be less then $20.00.  If you are interested please let Dave / KD8EVN know and he will get you on the list. THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT

The TMRA Website has a file section with helpful info for all Hams. Just go to www.tmrahamradio.org and click on the Picture Gallery/Docs tab. After you look at all the archived Photos scroll to the Bottom of the Page for helpful Documents and Information.

Have you attended a Committee Meeting? You should. There is a whole lot of Club Business that is handled in the Committee Meetings. If you want to be a pert of the clubs Operation be sure to participate at the Tech Committee and the Executive Committee. Information on their Schedules is listed below.

The TMRA Tech Committee has done some work up at the Repeater site. The Downtown link is once again operating and is available for use.

The 6 Meter Repeater is back up and Running. The Weekly Net on this Repeater has returned. See info in the NET section below for this Net.

The April Presentation will be on WORKING EVENTS. This Introduction to Working Events was created for Lucas County Ares and is designed as an Orientation for first time Event Operators. The Presentation will cover what tot expect and what will be expected of you, What Equipment to bring and other useful information.

 ARES IN BRIEF NET  on Sunday Nights at 1930 on the 147.270 Repeater. All are welcome to check in.

NEWCOMERS AND ELMERS NET (see note #1 below)
 
Are you new to Ham Radio, or so you just feel inexperienced, perhaps  you just have a question that you need answered?
Be sure to tune into the TMRA Newcomers and Elmers net each Sunday night at 8pm. This Net follows the ARES in brief Net on the 147.270 Repeater. 
 Net Control Stations for the Newcomers and Elmers Net are needed. If you would like to take the Net and try your hand at Net Control, or if you have a topic to suggest for the Net, get ahold of Dave / KD8EVN

Dan KE8UE, has asked me to list his weekly 6 Meter Nets. Dan runs 2 informal roundtable nets every week on the 6 Meter Band.
The first is  a repeater based net on Monday Nights on the TMRA 6 Meter Repeater. 
The Second is an  SSB based net on Thursday Nights on 6 meter SSB. 
Everyone is welcomed to check into these social Nets.
 
Mondays at 9pm. Roundtable Net on  53.110 with a negative 1 Mhz offset (W8HHF Repeater)

Thursday at 9pm. Roundtable Net on 50.255 USB 
 
Dan also advises that on the Second Monday of every Month he needs a Net Control Operator for this net.
