Bike to the Bay organizers have requested radio amateur support for their
event on 06/22/19 and 06/23/19. This is a 2 day event with 4 routes from 35
to 100 miles with an overnight in Port Clinton, Ohio. The biggest area of
need will be a liaison at their headquarters at the American Legion hall,
402 E Front St, in Pemberville. They will have a large tent set-up and
would like to have an amateur there during their "support hours" of 0700 to
1700 each day. This is a high priority assignment that needs to be filled
all day each day. They will have their comms official in this tent relaying
traffic to and from amateur radio operators. All traffic will be on 147.375
Toledo machine.
They are also requesting each of the rest stops manned with amateurs during
their time of operation. The locations are:
SATURDAY:
Owens Community College, Heritage Hall, 0600-1200 (Start/Stop point for
35 mile, first priority)
Stony Ridge Park, 5705 Oak St, 0700-0830
Tontogany Fire Station, 18164 Main St, 0830-1000
Luidhardt Farm, 9127 Nelson Rd, BG, 0830-1130
Village Green Mobile Home Park, 7630 Reitz Rd, 0830-1030
SUNDAY:
Tontogany Fire Station, 18164 Main St, 0930-1300
Village Green Mobile Home Park, 7630 Reitz Rd, 1030-1400
Owens Community College, Heritage Hall, 1400-1700 (Finish point, first
priority)
----------------
GOBA did not request radio amateurs for their 06/15 departure from BG. They
are requesting 3 volunteers for the return on 06/22/19. GOBA will be using
the 146.79 ARES repeater while in Wood County.
I've attached the 2019 Service Maps. They show the route as well as stops
and details of routes in and out of each city. Feel free to distribute
them to as needed. Rider maps and detailed information about stops can be
found at http://goba.com/goba-route-info/ Of course the route is subject
to change-flooding looks like it could be an issue this year.
GOBA has identified three intersections where we need volunteers to monitor
cyclists on the last day of the ride, 22 June. All three are in Wood
county.
Fostoria Road (CR 2) and Williston Road (SR 579): from 7am until 10am.
Bradner Road (TR 16) and Moline-Martin Road (SR 795): 8am until 11am.
and Bradner Road (TR 16) and Genoa Road (SR 163): 8am until 11am.
For Bradner Road and Genoa Road our primary concern is cyclists missing the
second turn to the left through the intersection!
For Fostoria Road and Williston Road we'd like coverage from 7am until
10am. For the other two, 8am until 11am. The work can, of course, be
divided up.
GOBA BREAK STOPS:
Saturday, 22 June - Mandatory day - 34.0 mile route
AM light snack: Millbury Firemen's rec hall
Lunch: Luckey American Legion
PM water stop: Wood County Park District Office
GOBA will be monitoring starting at about 6am until 5pm. Todd Johnson,
KD8UND, can be reached by wireless phone at 740-253-3406. Maria, K9RIA,
can be reached at 740-253-3407. If you can't get either on the radio or
phone and it's an emergency, you should contact the SAG coordinator, Matt
Wolf KD8GFX. His number is 614-264-8936. If all else fails, the GOBA
Director-Jeff Pierron can be reached at 614-327-9296.
Thank you once again for all of your assistance. GOBA would not be
possible without you.
----------------
*Since both of these organizations have waited until basically the last 1 **or
so **week before their events to request assistance, we will do the best we
can to man the events however nothing can be guaranteed at this point. I
realize that this conflicts with Field Day but they would appreciate any
help available. Please email me your availability and preferences for
assignments and I will do the best I can to compile this information via
email. *
