Next Saturday, Sept 8th 2018 is Ohio State Parks on the air!!!! The 7 day forecast is calling for overnight lows on Friday to be about 63 and the high temp on Saturday to be 74. The wind is predicted at 5 to 13 mph out of the ENE. Be sure to take that cooler morning temp into account as it can be chilly that close to the Lake. Toby/KE8CZO is in final prep for the event. Be sure to E-Mail him your Equipment list if you have not already done so. I was at the Park yesterday and the field was looking good. One thing to consider is there was a large amount of Goose activity in that area, so we may need a Broom or two to sweep away their offerings to the Parking Lot. There were not any Picnic Tables in our area so be sure to add a Table to your list of Equipment if your going to need one. The Power was on last year and it ?Looked? like someone was using it yesterday. Remember that we can only put SHORT stakes into the ground. NO LONG SPIKES CAN BE USED!!! So be sure to take that into account as well. Im looking forward to seeing all of you out at Maumee Bay State Park next Saturday. It will be fun. THE SPEED LIMIT IN THE PARK IS 20MPH!!!!!!! The TMRA has two great presentations coming up at the September as well as the October Meetings. In September we will welcome Jim/K8MR for a presentation on Mobile Contesting In October the TMRA will host Dr. Bob Heil for a Live Remote Presentation. These should both be excellent presentations. As a reminder Membership Dues were up for renewal on July First. ***NEW THIS WEEK*** No New Items the week ***COMING SOON*** Info on the TMRA Fall Tech Class Info on a possible New Ham Seminar (I?ve got my license now what) Info on The TMRA Holiday Party Info on the TMRA 2019 Event Schedule Info on the TMRA You Tube Channel ? ************************************************** The following information is for the good of the T.M.R.A. and its Members. ? ?EVENTS ? OHIO STATE PARKS ON THE AIR >From Toby Hiteshew KE8CZO Maumee Bay State Park 1400 State Park Road Oregon, Ohio 43616 http://parks.ohiodnr.gov/maumeebay Sat Sept 8.?2018 Set up will begin at 07:30 The Event will run until 5:00 pm This event, while geared towards newer Operators, is open to anyone who wants to participate. The Event is open to all Armatures as well as the Public. It is encouraged that the newer hams handle the set up.? If you have not set up an event before, then this is your opportunity to learn to do so. All Antennas will be free standing. This means that no Trees will be used to support Antennas. In fact we will be at Maumee Bay State Park in a completely open field.?This affords us the opportunity to experiment with different Antennas. If you have an antenna that you have made, or want to try, this is the perfect Event to give it a go.? We will be securing food from area vendors, If you wish to eat at this event you must pre-register. This allows us to know the number of folks we need to feed. We will be operating under special event call-sign W8H. W8H is a provisional call-sign. This allows use of the entire Amateur Spectrum, including Extra Class. Any person can operate in any area of the Band, as long as there is a control Operator with the appropriate Privileges at, and in control of the Transceiver.?This makes this the perfect Event for Technicians and Generals to try out the Extra Class Portions of the Bands. There will be plenty of Extra class Operators on hand at this Event. This is a TMRA event, Participants will need to be a TMRA member in good standing to set up an antenna and station, however all are welcome to attend and participate.? We are in need of Elmers to be on hand to help setup and Guide the newer Operators. If you wish to participate you are encouraged to contact Toby/KE8CZO. Toby will also be taking sign-up?s at the August TMRA General Meeting. You can contact Toby at Ke8czo at gmail.com Please include your name ,cellphone and email address. ----- LUCAS COUNTY A.R.E.S ? We expect the repeater to be off the air between 9am-11:30am Wednesday morning and will inform everyone on the air when our testing is fully complete. (Just because you can get in, doesn't mean it will stay up or that testing is complete) For those able/willing to listen on the repeater input, we'd appreaciate it if you could let others know (on the output) if you hear them trying to get into the repeater (without success, obviously) during that time period. (Since not everyone will get this message prior). Also, for those able, we'll also be interested in any before/after reports on both weak signal repeater access, and how you are hearing the repeater, after the work is complete. Thanks!
