ITS BEEN A FEW WEEKS BUT IM BACK ON THE JOB.

As always there is plenty going on so lets have a look.

THE NORMAL MONTHLY V.E. TESTING SESSION HAS BEEN CHANGED FOR THIS MONTH. 
DURING THE MONTHS WHEN THE CLUB IS OFFERING ITS TECHNICIANS TRAINING COURSE THE SESSION FOLLOWS THE SECOND DAY OF TRAINING. NOVEMBER IS A MONTH WHEN THAT HAPPENS.

 HERE IS THE INFORMATION ON THE V.E. SESSION FOR NOVEMBER 2018

TMRA V.E.SESSION 
WHEN: SATURDAY NOVEMBER 10TH 
Where: Lucas County EMS Training Center, 2127 Jefferson Ave, Toledo Ohio
THIS SESSION WILL FOLLOW THE TECHNICIANS TRAINING CLASS. THE SESSION WILL BEGIN ONCE THE CLASS HAS ENDED. 
THIS IS AN OPEN TEST SESSION, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A CLASS MEMBER TO TEST!!!

Lucas County ARES New Truck Committee Meeting scheduled for 11/10/18 at 11:00am (see ARES section for info)

The November V.E. Session is scheduled for November 11th following the second Tech Training Session. The expected time is 15:30pm or whenever the Class is finished. The Normal test time and location are cancelled for November. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY VE SESSION OFFERED BY TMRA IN NOVEMBER!!!! (See the Meetings Section below for all VE Session Information.)

FALL TECHNICIANS CLASS

The TMRA Education Committee has released the schedule for the Fall Technicians Class. The class schedule will follow our traditional style. Two classes held two weeks apart and a V.E. Testing Session after the final class. The Class is FREE, you will have to provide your own book, or one can be purchased from the TMRA ($25.00). The testing session will cost $15.00 which is the standard fee set by the ARRL.

NEW HAMS SEMINAR (I GOT MY LICENSE, NOW WHAT?) 

Congratulations, you have studied and passed your element and received you first Amateur Radio License.
NOW WHAT?

What Radio should I buy?
Should I buy new or used Equipment?
What Aspects of Ham Radio should I get involved in?
What Activities should I get involved in?
What Club should I join or should I join one at all?
And many many other Questions.
Welcome to The HUGE world of Ham Radio, this hobby has so many aspects that the new Ham can explore. This 4 hour Seminar is designed to help you gain clarity and hopefully answer some of the questions new Hams have. We hold this Seminar two times a year, within a few weeks of the completion of our Spring and Fall Tech Class. Everyone is welcome to attend. This is a FREE Seminar. There will be Equipment and experienced Hams on-site. Come on out and meet the Club Members and get a look at some of the Radios, and bring your questions. We will get them answered and help get you on the road to the world of Amateur Radio.

ALLEN MANROW / W8ALM HAS BEEN NAMED TO THE PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER ROLE. ALLEN WILL BE WORKING TO DEVELOP AND DEFINE THIS ROLE AND WILL BE REPORTING BACK TO THE CLUB ON HIS PROGRESS. THE TMRA THANKS ALLEN FOR TAKING ON THIS ROLE.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT

Have you attended a Committee Meeting? You should. There is a whole lot of Club Business that is handled in the Committee Meetings. If you want to be a pert of the clubs Operation be sure to participate at the Tech Committee and the Executive Committee. Information on their Schedules is listed below.

Are you interested in sitting on the Executive Board and being a integral part of the Club Leadership? Do you have a background in Accounting or Book keeping? The TMRA is looking for a new Treasurer. Current Treasurer Rich / KD8WCD is looking to train a new Candidate so he can retire. If you think you would like to accept this challenge please contact Rob / KV8P. kv8p at kv8p.com 

The TMRA is looking for Members who are interested in sitting on the Auditing Committee. The Committee will meet sometime in the Winter and conduct an Audit of the Clubs Activities. This is an Important function to assure the club is functioning in accordance with its By-Laws. If you would like to participate contact Rob / KV8P. kv8p at kv8p.com

The TMRA is still looking for Members for it Welcoming Committee. I will be heading this new committee in the beginning and hope to turn it over to a willing member after it up and running. I have a total of 4 Members so far and would like 2 more. We will be forming this Committee from scratch, so Members will help in determining the operating function and direction of the committee and then will help get the committee on-line. This is an excellent opportunity to help new Hams and new Members have a great experience at the TMRA.

The Silent Auction will be returning to Hamfest in 2019. The Auction Organizer has already begun to gather donations for the Auction. This year, the Money Raised will go to the completion of the Yaesu FT450D Station. This will include a Power Supply and Antenna Tuner.  We were able to purchase this Station with the proceeds of last years auction. Keep an eye on this section for future News, including Items that will be offered. If you have Items that you would like to donate for the Auction, please contact Toby / KE8CZO. All Proceeds from this Auction go to purchasing Equipment for Club Member use.

In November, Chrissy KC8UFV will be giving a Presentation on the National Medical Disaster Team at the TMRA General Meeting.

 The TMRAs current total Membership is 138.

The next ARES meeting will be SATURDAY NOVEMBER 24TH AT 09:00 

The meeting will be held at 
St.Lukes Hospital in the private Basement Dining Room.
Come out early and join us for Breakfast in the Cafeteria.

NEW TRUCK COMMITTEE

 The next new Truck Committee Meeting will be at 11:00 am on Saturday November 10th. We will be meeting in a breakout room at the 911 training center. This location will also be in use by the TMRA for their Technicians Training class that day. Committee members will enter the main door and proceed down the hall to the east end of the building.   PLEASE DO NOT DISTURB THE TECH CLASS!!!!

 ARES IN BRIEF NET  on Sunday Nights at 1930 on the 147.270 Repeater. All are welcome to check in.

NEWCOMERS AND ELMERS NET (see note #1 below)

Are you new to Ham Radio, or so you just feel inexperienced, perhaps  you just have a question that you need answered?
Be sure to tune into the TMRA Newcomers and Elmers net each Sunday night at 8pm. This Net follows the ARES in brief Net on the 147.270 Repeater. 
 Net Control Stations for the Newcomers and Elmers Net are needed. If you would like to take the Net and try your hand at Net Control, or if you have a topic to suggest for the Net, get ahold of Dave / KD8EVN

Are you interested in learning more about Digital Modes? Well then be sure to check into the FLDIGI Net every Tuesday Night at 1930 on the 147.270 repeater. All are welcome and New Operators are encouraged to check in and get up to speed on FLDIGI and MMSSTV. Its informative and a lot of fun.

 6 METER NETS
DAN / KE8UE

Dan KE8UE, has asked me to list his weekly 6 Meter Nets. Dan runs 2 informal roundtable nets every week on the 6 Meter Band.
The first is  a repeater based net on Monday Nights on the TMRA 6 Meter Repeater. 
The Second is an  SSB based net on Thursday Nights on 6 meter SSB. 
Everyone is welcomed to check into these social Nets.

Mondays at 9pm. Roundtable Net on  53.110 with a negative 1 Mhz offset (W8HHF Repeater)THIS NET IS CURENTLY SUSPENDED DUE TO REPEATER ISSUES. MORE INFO TO FOLLOW

Thursday at 9pm. Roundtable Net on 50.255 USB 

Dan also advises that on the Second Monday of every Month he needs a Net Control Operator for this net.

ALL RADIO AMATEURS ARE WELCOMED TO CHECK INTO ANY TMRA NET.
