ANTENNA WORK PARTYS/LIFTS

TMRA is looking for members to assist with the next 147.27 antenna lift on Saturday, June 9th. This will be our next attempt at the lift, utilizing our learnings from the April 18th session. Please let Rob (KV8P) know if you can help. The following weekend (Friday or Saturday) would be the alternate date.
We found ourselves just a little bit short on needed number of people for the last pull. Therefore, we are providing some additional time for folks to plan for this particular scheduled date (which may also afford us time to plan the 224.14 mounting).
Even if you can only donate time for the 147.27 antenna pull-up itself, or to man a "tag-line", we will take it! The efforts will likely start at 9am and the pull is expected to occur around 11-11:30am.
Feel free to contact Rob (KV8P) at kv8p at kv8p.com, or call Rob at (419)345-5759 if you can help.
Thank you!

MUSEUM SHIPS ON THE AIR WEEKEND

June 2nd and 3rd 2018.

CQCQCQ THIS IS KILO 8 ECHO.

KILO 8 ECHO, A SPECIAL EVENT STATION FOR MUSEUM SHIPS ON THE AIR.

KILO 8 ECHO TRANSMITTING FROM ABORD THE COL. JAMES M. SCHOONMAKER, MOORED ALONG THE SHORES OF LAKE ERIE IN TOLEDO OHIO.

THIS IS KILO 8 ECHO QRZ…..And then the fun begins…..

Museum Ship Weekend is approaching and there’s a lot to be done to prep for this event. This years event chairman is Tom / KD8WCD.

From the “DOG HOUSE” high atop the Stern of the Schoonmaker, we will be setting up multiple Stations and the Antennas to work those stations. This will include the Clubs 20 Meter Crappy Pole Yagi, The antenna that will once again OWN 20 meters that weekend.

Last Year the members of team K8E made over 1000 contacts during the event. Be sure to set aside some time to come out that weekend and get on the air.

This is an excellent chance for new Hams to get out and join in a club event, and see what the TMRA is all about in the Field.

This event will be run under a special event call sign, That Call sign will allow any Licensed Amateur to get on the air for the event. This is a great chance for all our Technicians to get on the HF bands. Plus its just a ton of fun.

Admission to the Ship is free to team K8E Members.

From Don the Head of the Volunteers on the Schoonmaker.....
30 minute overlap and a good choice for dinner on Saturday.

Thanks Don!

Here's some information you might want to share with your radio club. On June 2, the same day your radio event is taking place on the Schoonmaker, there will also be a fish fry at the museum. This is a joint fundraiser with the museum and the Maritime Academy of Toledo. The culinary students from the academy will be preparing a traditional fish fry, including breaded cod, coleslaw and French fries. Tickets are $20, $11 for children under 12. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Serving will be in shifts from 4:30 to 7:30every 30 minutes. Dining will be in the Maritime Park or on board the Schoonmaker using the hatch covers as tables as the crews might have done on hot summer days on Lake Superior. Entertainment is by Great Lakes musician Russ Franzen. Visit nmgl.eventbrite.com to register online, or call (419) 214-5000 ext. 200. Get your registrations in early.

Lets support those who support us and take part in this Fish Fry. Plus ya gotta eat.

Wanna be on team K8E, got a question about the Event, Contact Tom / KD8WCB he’s the Commodore for this year.

Antenna Build / KV8P

Rob / KV8P has announced he will be leading a Club Antenna Build at the July Meeting. The Antenna, a Tape Measure Yagi (2 Meter) is both effective and inexpensive to build. Used primarily for Fox Hunting this antenna can also be effective as a low power transmit antenna.

The build will take place at the TMRA July 2018 Business Meeting.

Rob has priced the kits and has offered two options. The Kits will include all parts needed to build the Antenna and the club will provide an analyzer to match and tune the completed projects. The price will be based on a minimum number of kits ordered. The antennas kits will be priced as follows

Standard Kit = $20.00

Standard Kit plus Offset Attenuator = $ 70.00

Orders for the kits will need to be placed on or before the June General Business Meeting to assure pricing and allow ample time for shipping.

Note : The offset Attenuator is not necessary to use this Antenna effectively, it also limits this Antenna to a receive Antenna only, as you cannot transmit through the Attenuator.

NOTE #1

*****Tech Committee Advisory*****

224.140(-) Information: The 224.140 repeater is currently "off the air". The technical committee recently made the decision to temporarily utilize the feedline for the 224.140 repeater for a temporary 147.270 antenna just while the new antennas are being raised. We expect the 147.270 repeater to be on this feedline and antenna, and for 224.140 to be off the air, just until the new 147.270 antenna is in place (Currently scheduled for June 9th, weather pending).

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE #2

****Newcomers and Elmers Net****

If you want to try your hand at being Net Control please contact Dave. You do not need to be an expert to run the net. Remember Net Controls job is to control the Net, not to necessarily be the Star Role or the primary voice of information. Dave / KD8EVN can be contacted at kd8evn at arrl.net
