TMRA is seeking club member volunteers to assist with 2 separate upcoming
planned antenna lifts (both high at 380' high atop our downtown repeater
site). While some amount of physical endurance is needed (to make the 6-7
flights of stairs that you will need to climb at the top of the building
with a few tools in hand), the rest of the work-day for each lift should be
relatively easy for all of us. More details below:
1. The first lift is scheduled for *Sunday, July 29th* and is set for
installing the new 10.5 dBd/12.6 dBi Sinclair SD-318 HD/Low PIM D-Star
442.750 antenna on top of a new mast (in place of an existing antenna). We
will then also be preparing the mast mounting for the large Super
Stationmaster installation (will be moved and re-purposed to be a better
fit 2m 147.87 receive site antenna on Aug 18th). We have 3 people currently
signed-up, but could use a few additional resources yet for for this work.
If we get enough signed up we can double the work and shorten the day.
2. The second lift is scheduled for *Saturday, August 18th* and is set for
installing the new 7.5 dBd/9.6 dBi Sinclair SD-314 HD/Low PIM Fusion
146.835 antenna on top of an existing mast (in place of the current Super
Stationmaster antenna). We will then also be moving the large Super
Stationmaster antenna to its new mounts and moving the feedline over for
the 147.87 remote receiver. Both of these lifts will take advantage of the
gin pole like we used atop the UT site. We currently only have 4 people
signed up currently (including myself), but have a long way to go to be
able to complete the lift that day. Please note that if we can’t get at
least 12 members signed up by/before August 8th, we’ll need to re-schedule
and try it again (it is, understandably, summer afterall).
Also, for those concerned with “heights” and “risks”, know that we also do
take them very seriously. This site, even though at staggering 380’ of
height, has a full secure safety wall around the edge and we’ll be working
mainly on the center of the roof (presenting relatively low risks, but
awesome views, for our participating members). The work will also be
“directed” and we will provide the equipment needed for the lifts. We only
ask that you bring your hard-hat, your sunscreen and a smile.
Please contact me at any of the methods below if you are able to help with
either lift.
Regards,
Rob (KV8P)
