This will only take a team of 4-5 people to complete and should be relatively quick to accomplish.? If we complete the lift in short order (as I believe we can), we may also make our way over to the UT campus building roof to start erecting the new 224.140 antenna base (and quite possibly install the new 224.140 antenna).? If you have an antenna that you have made, or want to try, this is the perfect Event to give it a go.? We will be securing food from area vendors, If you wish to eat at this event you must pre-register. This allows us to know the number of folks we need to feed. While some amount of physical endurance is needed (to make the 6-7 flights of stairs that you will need to climb at the top of the building with a few tools in hand), the rest of the work-day for each lift should be relatively easy for all of us. More details below: 1. The first lift is scheduled for *Sunday, July 29th* and is set for installing the new 10.5 dBd/12.6 dBi Sinclair SD-318 HD/Low PIM D-Star 442.750 antenna on top of a new mast (in place of an existing antenna). We will then also be preparing the mast mounting for the large Super Stationmaster installation (will be moved and re-purposed to be a better fit 2m 147.87 receive site antenna on Aug 18th). We have 3 people currently signed-up, but could use a few additional resources yet for for this work. If we get enough signed up we can double the work and shorten the day. 2. The second lift is scheduled for *Saturday, August 18th* and is set for installing the new 7.5 dBd/9.6 dBi Sinclair SD-314 HD/Low PIM Fusion 146.835 antenna on top of an existing mast (in place of the current Super Stationmaster antenna). We will then also be moving the large Super Stationmaster antenna to its new mounts and moving the feedline over for the 147.87 remote receiver. Both of these lifts will take advantage of the gin pole like we used atop the UT site. We currently only have 4 people signed up currently (including myself), but have a long way to go to be able to complete the lift that day. Please note that if we can?t get at least 12 members signed up by/before August 8th, we?ll need to re-schedule and try it again (it is, understandably, summer afterall). Also, for those concerned with ?heights? and ?risks?, know that we also do take them very seriously. This site, even though at staggering 380? of height, has a full secure safety wall around the edge and we?ll be working mainly on the center of the roof (presenting relatively low risks, but awesome views, for our participating members). The work will also be ?directed? and we will provide the equipment needed for the lifts. We only ask that you bring your hard-hat, your sunscreen and a smile. Please contact me at any of the methods below if you are able to help with either lift. The Executive and Tech Committee meetings are where the real everyday Club business decisions are made. These meeting are therefore only open to Club Members and invited guests. I encourage all members to attend at least one of these meetings every year. If you?re a new mwmber this is an excellent way to see how the club is run and who the decision makers are. The next events will be the Ares meeting, and Fox Hunt on the 28th of July. We hope to see a lot of new Tape Measure Antennas out for the Fox Hunt. If you have not already done so please consider signing up for one of the days of the Sylvania weekend. We need help on both Saturday and Sunday. These events, while handled by Lucas County Ares do not require you to be active in Ares to help. The Ares events are an excellent way to give back and support the community. That?s the very foundation of what Ham Radio is all about. Hope to see you on one of the courses over that weekend. The Event is open to all Armatures as well as the Public. It is encouraged that the newer hams handle the set up.? If you have not set up an event before, then this is your opportunity to learn to do so. All Antennas will be free standing. This means that no Trees will be used to support Antennas. In fact we will be at Maumee Bay State Park in a completely open field.?This affords us the opportunity to experiment with different Antennas. If you have an antenna that you have made, or want to try, this is the perfect Event to give it a go.? We will be securing food from area vendors, If you wish to eat at this event you must pre-register. This allows us to know the number of folks we need to feed. We will be operating under special event call-sign W8H. W8H is a provisional call-sign. This allows use of the entire Amateur Spectrum, including Extra Class. Any person can operate in any area of the Band, as long as there is a control Operator with the appropriate Privileges at, and in control of the Transceiver.?This makes this the perfect Event for Technicians and Generals to try out the Extra Class Portions of the Bands.
