TMRA will hold the next Mobile Fox Hunt (transmitter hunt) on October 28th
(4th Saturday) directly after the ARES meeting! This hunt will take place
in Lucas County and start from St. Lukes Hospital Parking lot directly
following the ARES meeting. Ron (N8RLH) will likely coordinate the start
the hunt and the winner will, this time, be the quickest to find the fox
(fox rules..haha)! - (Also: 5 bonus minutes off your overall time if you
hunt wearing even a simple Halloween costume while hunting, and we get a
picture!)
Many will likely be hunting in teams, so you do not need to know how to
transmitter/fox hunt, have any experience with hunting, or even bring any
equipment if you don't have any. Bring a 2 meter HT if that is all you have
as the hunt will be held on 2 meters on 145.555 simplex (coordination to
occur on 147.27 for those that need it)! Note: You can body shield hunt
with just your HT, so you don't need anything fancy! Some members will also
bring a spare yagi and attenuator or two if you'd like to try one.
Rob (KV8P) will be the fox for this particular hunt and promises only a
little bit of trickery... (hunt level = intermediate). The fox will be in a
public place, so keep that in mind during your hunt! Absolutely any/all
hunters are welcome to join in, however, only those that start at St. Lukes
can win.
ARES Meeting info at St. Lukes Hospital: Breakfast at 8am in the cafeteria,
meeting starts at 9am. Foxhunt starts directly afterwards. You do not have
to attend the ARES meeting to join the hunt! Also, after about 1.5 hours
we will give clues to make sure everyone can finish. (so don't fret if you
have some trouble)
Call Rob Hall (KV8P) at (419)345-5759 with any questions (except, "where
will you be hiding?") :)
Please mark your calendars and we'll see you there!
