From rhall987 at robhall.org Tue Oct 3 01:05:40 2017 From: rhall987 at robhall.org (Robert Hall) Date: Tue, 3 Oct 2017 01:05:40 -0400 Subject: [TMRA] Oct 9th Tech Committee Meeting Relocated (this month only) Message-ID: Reminder: TMRA Technical Committee Meeting on Monday, October 9th will be in a new/different location this month only! Please plan ahead and update your calendar for this month! The October Tech meeting will begin at 7pm at Rob (KV8P's) home at 8751 Oak Valley Rd. Holland, OH 43528. (located near the center of Stone Oak Country Club area, just north west of Holland) Only the Tech committee meeting will be moved, and this month only. Call Rob (KV8P) on 147.27+ or on 444.2125+ (both 103.5pl) if you need directions as you get close. We will be reviewing 3 items that evening before getting started with the technical committee meeting. Review items include: 1. Take a look at the new repeater antennas and discuss mounting and needs for each site. (only the 224.14 antenna will be missing yet from our review) 2. Review and try the new 147.27 (250.3 pl) link receiver. We have the system mocked up on the bench to review actual link audio with, using the actual setup to go in at the bank building repeater site (using the new 147.27 receiver). 3. Review 6 meter duplexers and take a look at the tuning with the service monitor. (along with state of mods) 4. Review/discuss available 1 5/8" heliax with connector for potential use at bank building location on 900MHz. 5. Discuss and review some options for go-box radio additions for future inexpensive TMRA HF gear (Win-keyer, MFJ-434B voice keyer, signal-link for digital). Rob will demo. 6. Review 146.835 Yeasu C4FM repeater amplifier option. All TMRA members are welcome. However, if you aren't a regular attendee please bring a chair with you (just in case we run short on seating). This is notification 1 of 3. Reminders will also be issued on and just prior to the meeting night. This hunt will take place in Lucas County and start from St. Lukes Hospital Parking lot directly following the ARES meeting. Ron (N8RLH) will likely coordinate the start the hunt and the winner will, this time, be the quickest to find the fox (fox rules..haha)! - (Also: 5 bonus minutes off your overall time if you hunt wearing even a simple Halloween costume while hunting, and we get a picture!) Many will likely be hunting in teams, so you do not need to know how to transmitter/fox hunt, have any experience with hunting, or even bring any equipment if you don't have any. Bring a 2 meter HT if that is all you have as the hunt will be held on 2 meters on 145.555 simplex (coordination to occur on 147.27 for those that need it)! Note: You can body shield hunt with just your HT, so you don't need anything fancy! Some members will also bring a spare yagi and attenuator or two if you'd like to try one. Rob (KV8P) will be the fox for this particular hunt and promises only a little bit of trickery... (hunt level = intermediate). The fox will be in a public place, so keep that in mind during your hunt! Absolutely any/all hunters are welcome to join in, however, only those that start at St. Lukes can win. ARES Meeting info at St. Lukes Hospital: Breakfast at 8am in the cafeteria, meeting starts at 9am. Foxhunt starts directly afterwards. You do not have to attend the ARES meeting to join the hunt! Also, after about 1.5 hours we will give clues to make sure everyone can finish. (so don't fret if you have some trouble) Call Rob Hall (KV8P) at (419)345-5759 with any questions (except, "where will you be hiding?") :) Please mark your calendars and we'll see you there!
