Hello,
I owe everyone in TMRA a Fusion Repeater Update.
*MAIN UPDATE: *
The Yaesu fusion repeater is back after the upgrade at Yaesu and I've been
busy getting it going on Wires-X on the bench. I've had some success and
everything is looking really good here so far.
*FOR FUSION RADIO OWNERS (IMPORTANT)*
One important thing that has show up right away for me is that all Fusion
Radio owners (of all kinds of Fusion Radios, FTM-100,400 and FT-1D and 2Ds)
will all need to do both a FIRMWARE *and* DSP update (yes, these are 2
separate updates) to your radio in order to be able to take full advantage
of the repeater once it is on the air downtown. Also, if your last upgrade
is more than 2 weeks ago, you will need the updates (trust me, I did).
You will be able to use the repeater without the most recent upgrades (more
than likely, but no guarantees), but you won't be able to control it to
different talk rooms with your radio. (Sorry 3200 users, you can't control
it anyway as is my understanding as that control functionality doesn't
exist in the 3200. However, you can just use the repeater in the room it
is already active in/controlled to by others).
Therefore, for FTM-400dr and FT-1dr, I will have the firmware on a laptop
and a cable available for your radios at the next TMRA Tech and General
Meetings. If you bring a cable and the files (listed below), I can
probably also help with other fusion radios as well. I'll plan to bring a
power supply with a powerpole connection for mobiles. I'm happy to help
with the upgrades if anyone needs it. However, directions and files are
available for both the firmware and dsp upgrades on the Yaesu website under
each radio (files tab), if you'd like to do it yourself.
See;

After selection your radio, go to files tab and go to the bottom of the
page. The files you need and directions are at the bottom of the page
listed under files for each radio type. You will need the programming
cable supplied with your radio, and will likely need to first install the
USB cable driver (if you never upgraded before using that PC). Grab all
the files and be sure to read the directions for each of them before
updating them.
(there are physical steps of switching switches into program, etc. that
have to occur before the update, so you can't skip reading these files)
Our DR-1X repeater is currently at Version 1.10Q, so you will know whether
there are updates or not. In the future we will try and warn our members
and coordinate updates for everyone before we upgrade the repeater if
possible. (more discussion ahead on that).
