To add on to what Steve mentioned, we do still need planners and operators
for the 20m and 80/160m operations.
This year, the bands are being divided into 3 general teams for field day,
and the teams get to set up the stations (often more than 1) and decide how
they are operated. Some stations will likely be first come, first
operating/available, and others will be operated in more contest style with
sign-up sheets for modes/antenna selection/etc . (it depends on the wishes
of the individual teams).
We are also discussing some fun things for the GOTA station including
possibly a 17 element 2m beam on SSB and a 6 meter beam this year (still
all in planning).
If you are interested in joining a group for setup and setting up
operations, or would just like to come out and operate for a team, and/or
want more info, please contact Steve at w8ter at bex.net.
Also, to spark a little individual competition within the event, (I think
everyone is up for it, so we'll see how it goes and if it is indeed as fun
as I think it could be... ), I (Rob, KV8P) will be collecting some
information from the logs this year and presenting some small field day
awards after the event (at a follow-on TMRA meeting) for:
1. Most points (via contacts only) obtained in a single hour of field day
operations by a single operator (just overall this year) during the event.
2. Most distant contact made (in miles away) during field day by a single
operator during the event
3. Most US states worked by a single operator during the event
4. Most countries worked by a single operator during the event
5. Most bonus points obtained/contributed by a single member.
All in the spirit of good fun, let the trash talking begin. :)
