This year, the bands are being divided into 3 general teams for field day, and the teams get to set up the stations (often more than 1) and decide how they are operated. Some stations will likely be first come, first operating/available, and others will be operated in more contest style with sign-up sheets for modes/antenna selection/etc . (it depends on the wishes of the individual teams). We are also discussing some fun things for the GOTA station including possibly a 17 element 2m beam on SSB and a 6 meter beam this year (still all in planning). If you are interested in joining a group for setup and setting up operations, or would just like to come out and operate for a team, and/or want more info, please contact Steve at w8ter at bex.net. Also, to spark a little individual competition within the event, (I think everyone is up for it, so we'll see how it goes and if it is indeed as fun as I think it could be... ), I (Rob, KV8P) will be collecting some information from the logs this year and presenting some small field day awards after the event (at a follow-on TMRA meeting) for: 1. Most points (via contacts only) obtained in a single hour of field day operations by a single operator (just overall this year) during the event. 2. Most distant contact made (in miles away) during field day by a single operator during the event 3. Most US states worked by a single operator during the event 4. Most countries worked by a single operator during the event 5. Most bonus points obtained/contributed by a single member. All in the spirit of good fun, let the trash talking begin. :) Rob - KV8P On Sat, Jun 17, 2017 at 8:56 PM, Stephen Bellner wrote: > SIGN UP FOR A BAND > > Signing up for a band on field day means this? > > You are responsible for bringing equipment to the site and/or help the > other members of your band team get operational. Contact KV8P if interested Message-ID: The 20 meter (pink) Field day team will be operating 2 separate stations and locations at the Wolcott house Field Day site this weekend (see info below). *We are taking sign-up reservations* from those that wish to secure and reserve an operating time on one of the 2 stations (please indicate a requested time in 1 hour increments and which station and mode you would like to operate. We may also take requests if you'd like to bring your own equipment to operate (let us know the specifics of your request please). Contact myself (Rob - KV8P) at kv8p at kv8p.com, via facebook, or via phone or text at (419)345-5759 with any specific operating times that you would like to reserve for yourself. Please do limit the individual requests to 1.5 hour increments or less at a time to ensure others get a chance to operate. Also, we'd also humbly request that everyone take a turn helping with logging as well for equal durations for others. Please note that priority will be given to those that also help setup, but we will do our best to accommodate all requests and will confirm with you quickly (before the weekend at a minimum). As of right now, there is plenty of room and we can accommodate most requests! Please note that it is not necessary/required to sign up and reserve an operating time, however, it is an option for those that would like to reserve a time. We will all honor the confirmed requests. Those that are signed up are allowed to give away their time to others (including newcomers). Our team only asks that you be sure to operate during any time you chose in the event nobody else is there to operate. (having yielded to you for your time) Also, you are allowed, and are even encouraged, to make arrangements with more than one group to operate. *20 Meter Station info below.* *Station 1*: The first station will be located in the main TMRA tent. This radio will be an Icom-735 provided by Greg Bramlett KG4USQ which will be attached to the Crappie Pole beam antenna and rotor at about 28' up. This station will be setup for SSB and psk31 digital operation using HRD. *Station 2*: The second station will be located in the school house building. This station will be attached to two antennas. The first antenna will be a north/south dipole run parallel to the train depot to 2 trees at about 30' up. The second antenna will be a full size 17' ground mounted vertical antenna up to the tree next to the school house. This antenna will also have about 40 ground radials which should make it a decent performer (albeit a rather "long antenna" for Field Day since the elevation angle should be very low). The station will be provided by myself and will consist of an IC-9100. The computer will also supply High Speed RX/TX CW and all digital modes via fldigi (and WSJT-X if the bands end up terrible..). This station will likely split SSB and CW mostly depending on the mode of Station 1. We are looking forward to sign-ups!
