*HamSCI Total Eclipse Party details:*
TMRA is planning an operation event to support the Solar Eclipse QSO Party
operation, sponsored by the ARRL and HAMSCI (Ham Radio Science Citizen
Investigation), set to begin at 1400z on Aug 21st. TMRA has secured the
Wolcott House for this event.
On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will cause the shadow of
the moon to traverse the U.S. from Oregon to South Carolina in just over 90
minutes causing dramatic changes in both the ionosphere and HF propagation.
The Solar Eclipse QSO Party (SEQP) is a HamSCI-ARRL sponsored operating
event to generate data to study ionospheric changes during the eclipse.
CW, PSK, RTTY, Phone, & WSPR on 160, 80, 40, 20, 15, 10, and 6 meter bands.

Some members/non-members may bring telescopes out for this event (w/ sun
filters), and you are welcome to bring yours as well.
Steve W8TER is the organizer for the event. Please contact Steve W8TER at
W8TER at arrl.net with any questions of if you can contibute for this research

planning/information for this event as the date draws closer. We will post
more information about this event as more information becomes available.
Please reserve the date!
*Ohio State Parks on the Air:*
TMRA is sponsoring, and has secured the Maumee Bay State Park for operation
as W8H during the 10th Annual Ohio State Parks On The Air (OSPOTA) Contest
Operation on September 9th. Operations setup will begin at 8am and the
contest starts at 10am. The contest will run on SSB on 80, 40, 20, 15 and
10m only.
This will be a unique event for TMRA in that it will be our first attempt
at setting up and using all free standing antennas (no trees used), to help
test our strengths in operating under no tree support conditions. Also,
setup and operations efforts are expected to be organized by some of our
newest operators, with support from our long time elmers (as needed). This
should provide some great learning opportunities for everyone involved.
This event organizer for TMRA is Toby Hiteshew (KE8CZO) who is available
for sign-up and info at KE8CZO at gmail.com. Toby will be providing more
details over the coming month and will be presenting more specifics on the
plans during the August 2017 TMRA meeting. Stay tuned for further info, but
please save the date. Toby is currently seeking sign-ups for setup crews
and operators for this short event.
