Therefore, the TMRA Executive and Technical Committees have jointly developed the attached document for our "Elmers and Mentors" to fill out, which will eventually be used to help those in need of the related help. This information, that we are asking you to provide about yourself, will be collated together and will eventually be accessible for our membership (and new visitors) via multiple methods (based on your feedback) in the near future. Please note that you have the option on the form of selecting which methods and information for contacting you are acceptable to you. We will respect your wishes and your privacy (as per your direction). No, we aren't comparing notes, and there is absolutely no judgement here with answering these, and.... it isn't a quiz... haha ALL help is welcome and we ALL have something here that we can contribute to others! Also, feel free to provide a write-in. We surely haven't thought of everything. I have provided the Elmer Request sheet (multiple sheets) both in .pdf and word format with this email. Please complete and return to me either electronically or paper copy if you are able to help out. I'll take the info however you can deliver it. For those that are able, please fill out and return to me (at the club meeting is fine, if in paper form, or electronic is good too). These forms will also be available at the meeting starting this Wednesday if you'd like to get a copy and fill it out there. Note that the two top sections are on radio familiarity and specific equipment/software to program radios, so that may take a little to review/research. Also, it will be a few months before all of the information is tallied up and be available. 73, and HUGE thanks in advance, Rob Hall - KV8P (TMRA Technical Committee) From rhall987 at robhall.org Tue Nov 8 19:13:52 2016 From: rhall987 at robhall.org (Robert Hall) Date: Tue, 8 Nov 2016 19:13:52 -0500 Subject: [TMRA] CQ TMRA Mentors and Elmers, CQ TMRA ....QRU In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: It came to my attention that the system stripped off my attachments. I'm just starting to dig into this a bit, and I'd like to gather some comments on options. I'm finding out that it may be just as easy, maybe better (and include additional benefits) by adding a simpler Flex 1000 or Flex 1500 SDR receiver and antenna switch for use with sofware like the N4PY software (http://www.n4py.com/). This then also adds the second receiver, and allows me to control the radio similar to a standard SDR with the integration software (while still allowing some local radio control as well)....The idea would be to use the SDR Receiver and my IC-9100 transmitter together through the software.. This allows for better integration of the dx cluster one-touch tuning, etc, as well... Has anyone done that with their radio before? I admit that I'm nervous about the switching timing between switching the Flex receiver in/out and my amplifier tx drop-out time. How well did it work for you? Timing issues? Any other suggestions other than the N4PY software for this? I suspect that some people will just say, "Go invest in the SDR radio and leave the Icom for VHF/UHF".. lol Thanks in advance for any related advice! 73, Rob - KV8P From sharpe at buckeye-express.com Sat Nov 12 07:00:47 2016 From: sharpe at buckeye-express.com (Rick K8RKS) Date: Sat, 12 Nov 2016 07:00:47 -0500 Subject: [TMRA] Help needed!
