Message-ID: <57055C48.8020505@buckeye-express.com> I'm still in need of quite a few operators for the Glass City Marathon. This year's race is on Sunday, April 24th and starts at 7:00 AM. The course closes at 1:00 PM although not everyone needs to be there the whole time. The race starts and ends at the University of Toledo and the course runs out to the North and West as far as Sylvania. Please contact me at either k8rks at arrl.net or 419-471-0573 if you'd like to volunteer or need more information. Thanks! The Ohio ARES NVIS antenna day is a non-contest operating activity open to all amateurs. In the case of an emergency, we will need to communicate over short distances to stations within the state of Ohio and our neighboring states. NVIS antennas are the technology to do this, but which are best? And, how does YOUR antenna work? Experimenting with antennas is still one of the most fun aspects of our hobby! Tie the two purposes together, add a group of friends, plenty of coffee and a BBQ grill and you have a formula for a really good time! Yes we will operate HF in the 80 and 40 meter bands. See what it takes to make HF work for you for emergency communications. _10 am to 5 pm Saturday April 23__^rd __, 2016 Fire Station 450 W. Dussel Dr. Maumee, OH _ All are welcome! The AFD Military/Amateur Crossband Communications Test is conducted 14 May 2016. The annual celebration is a unique opportunity to test two way communications between Amateurs and military communicators authorized in 47 CFR 97.111, and features traditional military to amateur cross band SSB voice, Morse Code, practice using legacy interoperability waveforms, as well as an opportunity for Amateurs to utilize more modern military communications modes such as MIL-STD Serial PSK and Automatic Link Establishment (ALE). New for Armed Forces Day this year, military stations and amateur radio operators are authorized to directly communicate on the 60 Meter interoperability channels. These tests give Amateur Radio operators and Short Wave Listeners (SWL) an opportunity and a challenge to demonstrate their individual technical skills, and to receive recognition from the appropriate military radio station for their proven expertise. QSL cards will be provided to those stations making contact with the military stations.
