This is just a general rundown of what to expect for Saturday and Sunday
concerning the hamfest setup/security.
Frequency is 145.555. (Check-in when you arrive)
Dress warm as you may be outside or standing/sitting next to an open door.
Work as many or as few hours as you wish there are no limits. All/any help
is appreciated. This is a club function and you must be a member of the
club to participate.
*Saturday morning:*
We will meet at or around about 9:00 am. At the Owens Student Health
Activities Center (S.H.A.C ).
Tom, KB8PAI will be bringing carts and other supplies for the hamfest from
the storage unit. (If you have a cart to loan, please bring it... make sure
we tie ribbons or tape on it so we can recognize it.)
We will carry and set up tables (Bring Gloves tables have sharp edges.)
James, WD8IOL will have need of help with numbering the tables
We will run extension cords for power to the tables.
Chuck, KB8FXJ sets up PA
There will be a need to set up the forum room with chairs.
Ticket tables will need to be set up.
Outdoor signage will need to be put in place.
At or about 3 pm vendors will start arriving and we will need to monitor
the doors and help the vendors find their tables. (We will be greeting them
as they drive up. Dress for being outside)
Vendors have a habit of unloading their vehicle and leaving it. This blocks
others from unloading. We need to express to those unloading their vehicles
that they need to move their vehicle immediately after unloading so that
*other* vendors may unload their items too.
Things may tapper off after 6 pm but we are open to 8 pm.
*Sunday morning:*
If you want to arrive early 6 or 6:30 will do.
We will be greeting vendors as they drive up. (Dress to be outside) we will
monitor doors and assist vendors by directing them to the correct entry
doors. Many may want to purchase tables so we will need to direct them to
see James, WD8IOL.
Doors close at 7:45 am. After that, Vendors will be admitted on a case by
case assessment.
*During the hamfest:*
We will need to monitor doors as vendors and visitors will want to exit
through doors not normally used. Overhead doors may not be used. They may
exit but only vendors may come back in. New arrivals must go through the
ticket gate entrance. Some doors will be alarmed.
We will need to relieve each other so each volunteer can eat.
After Hamfest (2 pm) we need to break down tables and stack them. (Bring
Gloves tables have sharp edges.)
We need to pick up large debris and put in a pile. Perform general cleanup.
This is our main event for each year and I want to thank you for helping
make this a success. You and your efforts are what make this club go!
73,
Steve / W8TER
