LCARES, Inc. is an Ohio Corporation, whose purpose is to hold and provide
assets to support the mission of Lucas County ARES.

 

Most recently, LCARES, Inc, has received a grant of $10,000 to put DSTAR
radios in the hospitals in Lucas county, and in the Hospital in Bowling
Green.

 

The Bylaws of LCARES, Inc. require the board to regularly review the Bylaws,
and update them as needed to increase our effectiveness.  In our last
review, the Board decided to review our representation.  In the past, the
Board has been made up of 4 at-large-Trustees, and two trustees from
participating clubs in Lucas County.  The at-large-Trustees were elected at
the Lucas County ARES annual meeting.  This organizational plan was drawn up
when several clubs in the area banded together to build an emergency
vehicle.

 

We have had difficulty getting active members from the clubs, which has made
it difficult to get quorums for our meetings.  And, since EMA now provides
the emergency vehicle, it seemed time to change the representation process
on the board.

 

The bylaws have been changed.  All members of the board will be at-large.
The current at-large-trustees, Richard Brownlee - KA9IVY, Brian Harrington -
WD8MXR, Brent Stover - WD8PNZ and Rick Sharpe - K8RKS will serve one more
year, and we will elect four more Trustees to a two year term.  The Lucas
County EC is an Ex-officio Trustee.

 

Trustees receive no compensation, must be 18 years of age or older, must be
licensed amateur radio operators in good standing with the FCC, and must be
a registered member . and should be aware that some of the organizations
that provide grants require that some or all of the Trustees have passed
certain FEMA courses.

 

Nominations will be accepted at the January meeting of Lucas County ARES,
and an election will follow.

 

Please help me get this information out to all Lucas County ARES members.
