Nope, you've got it right.  There's a ledger that lists many of TMC's sales, including s/n and buyer.  Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be
complete, even for the time period when TMC tried to keep it current.   If
there's a ton of interest, I guess I *could* scan it, but it's not clear how to make the scans accessible or searchable--all hand-written entries, if course.
