I figured i needed to put the PAL-500 to some use on AM.  It's kind of
complicated but it works.  I use the K3 for a transmitter cause i can
vary the output power from nothing up to 100W.  So i go from the K3 into
the "high" power input BNC connector on the back of the amp.  Out of
there into a T-R relay then to the input of my antenna tuner, out of
there to my wattmeter and thence to the antenna.

the K3 is a transmitter only in this case.  With the output set to 5 W i
get over 100 out of the amp, maybe tubes a bit soft?

For a receiver i use either the KX-3 or laptop using SDRplay coming from
the receiver side of the T-R relay.  Only bad thing about this  setup is
that i don't have a means of muting the receiver so the only isolation i
have is from the T-R relay switching and that ain't doing the job.

To actuate the voltage to do the AMP power switching i come out of the
K3 KEY RCA port which controls an MFJ-704 remote relay type box Which
then controls the 24V used to key the AMP.   the 24V comes from an
external source.

I am only using this on 40 AM at this time to get some bugs worked out
of the process.  First of which will be to get some sort of muting for
the laptop or KX3.  It's a bit awkward but at least it's got the amp
working and it's usefull again.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
