[TMC] RTTY and SBE/PAL-1K

I am attempting to use my SBE + PAL-1K for RTTY.
Previously I have been using an SBG as exciter and added a circuit to
sequentially key the SBG after the PAL-1K is keyed. If I key the exciter
and amp at the same time, the screen current breaker trips.
BUT - in the SBK-1 configuration, the SBE key line is wired to key the SBE
first, and then SBE keys the amp - so if you key the SBE it will come on
before the amp and the breaker trips. What am I missing here? How did TMC
make this work?

IIRC John Vendely suggested putting an RF relay in the drive to the PAL-1K,
so the drive could always be held off until the amp was keyed. OK that
works, but somehow TMC made the standard SBK-1 configuration work. I'm
puzzled.

It's not as big an issue on SSB voice because you usually don't start
speaking until all the relays have gone kerchunk.
