Hi Eugene,

Yes, I figured that those few who still own these rare receivers would
be pleased to hear of this.

Interestingly, while the eBay listing was live, I only had two offers,
and the highest was only $800.00, so please take that into
consideration. As such, it may not be that easy to sell these receivers
at the price I was most fortunate to obtain.

With regard to the eBay listing: As the GPR-92 is a heavy receiver, the
shipping cost would be high, and since eBay has mandated the collection
and payment of state sales tax, I think that depressed the price an
interested buyer would pay as well. We could be easily looking at
several hundreds of dollars in sales tax alone on a purchase of this
magnitude, and this is of course factored into the total price the buyer
would pay.

As most of us know, a lot of amateur radio-related equipment has
depreciated significantly over the years, and it is not bringing the
kind of pricing it once did. I think the pricing on a lot of this gear
probably peaked around 15 years ago or so. I attribute most of the
depreciation to the ever-changing demographics of the hobby.

Considering the current state of the amateur radio marketplace, I was
very pleased with the price my GPR-92 sold for.

Bruce, W2XR

To all of those naysayers commenting on or ridiculing the asking price
for this GPR-92;

Originally, I listed it on eBay for $4995.00 or best offer, a few
months ago. I terminated the listing when a very serious radio collector
approached me outside of eBay, and I agreed to sell the receiver to him
directly.

I sold the receiver in mid-October for $4750.00 cash....no eBay or
PayPal fees, and the buyer did not have to pay any sales tax. The buyer
drove a long distance to pick it up; he insisted that it not be
shipped, for fear of the possibility of damage to it. And he was
thrilled with the condition of this pristine GPR-92, and I know that
another enthusiast of these extremely rare receivers will treasure it.
It went to a very good home, and to a very nice person.

  So there you go....

  Bruce, W2XR
