Hi Bob; nice hearing from you!
I agree on your "best-looking receiver" assessment; they certainly are that indeed. The build quality is also superior to most receivers of that era; it's built like a tank and made to last.
I'm sure a GSB-1 will follow at some point, so I can enjoy the benefits you mentioned. Meanwhile, I'm refurbishing a B&W 370 SSB adapter, which is fundamentally similar to the GSB-1, but minus some of the nicer bells and whistles. That said, I've read some glowing reports about the B&W, so I'm looking forward to wringing it out soon.
Hope all is well with you!
73 & Tnx, George - W1LSB

Congrats on the excellent acquisition, George! I will argue long and hard with anyone who denies that the GPR-90 is not the best-looking receiver of all time ;-) I saw an RXD version in a repair shop once but he said the owner wouldn't sell it. When I went back a year later he said "oh, that was sold a long time ago!"...
Now your search for a GSB-1 or similar SSB adapter begins. The combination turns the GPR-90 into a true SSB/CW receiver and AM reception under difficult conditions is also enhanced.
My GSB-1 came by serendipity. John Dilks had posted some photos of a shack that he was helping to liquidate but hadn't yet inventoried, and I saw a corner of what I thought was a GSB-1 in the photo and inquired - it was!
