Steve and listers,

The VLRE is a fixed-tuned VLF receiver. It covered a set of frequencies
preset on a series of plug-in RF modules, and the receive frequency could
be remotely selected.

If you're ever in doubt about a TMC rig, you can always refer to:

http://tmchistory.org/tmc_tables/tmc_comp_list_table.htm

...a reasonably comprehensive list of TMC's products over the years. The
VLRE is listed there. There's also a full technical manual for the VLRE on
the manuals page:

http://tmchistory.org/tmc_manuals/tmc_commercial_manual_page.htm

It's one of a family of LF receivers that TMC built, probably beginning in
the late 60's... they're all-solid-state.

This receiver is fairly rare. I don't recall ever seeing one in the flesh
in 20 years of collecting and poking through TMC stashes.. Hope someone
will adopt it, and get it going!
