Does anyone on the list have any historical information about Northern
Radio Company?

This subject came up in my continuing effort to put together a reasonably
comprehensive history of TMC. (And, of course, I'd be grateful for any
help on this project, too!).

I unearthed a photo of the groundbreaking for Press Wireless'
transmitter assembly building in Long Island City in 1945. At the
shovels were: Ray de Pasquale, director of manufacturing, and Salvatore
Barone, chief manufacturing engineer. You all know that Ray left PreWi
in 1947 to found TMC, but perhaps less well know: his colleague Sal
Barone also left PreWi and founded Norther Radio. Explains the
connection between the copmanies over the years.

Heard a great story about Northern from Walt Beiber.. The company was
located at 145 W 22nd street in Manhatten. Evidently the employees had
a favorite resaurant, the Chelsea, at 23rd and 8th avenue to which they
would repair for lunch most days. "Lunch" tended to have many courses,
and often no one got back to work until mid afternoon.. Wonder they
got anything done!

Check the tmchistory.org website from time to time.. I'm working my way
through 1000's of photographs, and gradually building galleries for
them.
